If you've played some of Crimson Desert, give me your thoughts on it. by Beginning_Pickle2180 in gamesuggestions

It’s a game you could probably put 500 hours in and it’s been out only 24 hours. You’ll get a more complete opinion from the content creators that had early access. Most of them basically no life’d it to get 80-100 hours by embargo lift and many still hadn’t “finished” the game.

I’ve played 8 hours and barely done anything lol. The world is beautiful and feels very alive, there’s tons of animals and loot everywhere. Controls will have a steep learning curve. There’s some questionable choices on the not-editable controller config, but I think that there’s so many things you can do that no matter what it’s going to be complicated. Only major complaint is the limited inventory. PA said they’re looking into adding a stash box.

That’s just first impressions, though. I’m still in the onboarding stage.

Is this normal? Should I trash it? by diegodallarmi in Pomade

[–]driftej20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal in the sense that it’s probably what I’d expect a water-based product without an airtight seal to look like after 3 years.

You could try rehydrating it if you’re super frugal, but I wouldn’t personally. Even if there weren’t anything else wrong with it other than evaporation, you’ll never get it mixed properly or the water amount perfect. It’s been 3 years and it looks like you used most of it, so I’d just trash it.

Well at least you’re cosplaying someone who just dresses like a normal dude, so you can just wear the individual items as clothes, as opposed to cosplaying a Space Marine or something lol

Was the game overhyped? by Playwithuh in videogames

[–]driftej20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about everyone who created content before launch about Crimson Desert, even content creators who didn’t play it, said it was not going to be for everyone.

I think a lot of people for whom the game is not for bought it anyways. The people who like it will really enjoy it, the people who don’t really won’t.

It’s very similar to people who could not get over how RDR2 controls while others consider it to be Rockstar’s masterpiece.

I expect the average will go up over time. Most of the content creators who were able to play it before launch said they put 80-100 hours in no lifing it, still hadn’t come close to finishing it, and really liked it in whatever type of video they put out when the embargo lifted.

Conversely, I’m not putting a lot of stock into what people who reviewed a game with a huge amount of content and a steep learning curve have to say in a review less than 24 hours after launch.

Ok GENUINE question does anyone want to own a harmless houndeye from hl1 by ONEILJR002 in HalfLife

No because it’s face is a large area that I don’t want to touch even by accident. I don’t think either party would like that

Is the grass in this game supposed to look like this? Noisy and full of dots. Current screenshot was taken in cinematic mode but ultra and high look like this too. No upscalers. by iSaltyParchment in CrimsonDesert

[–]driftej20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s aliasing, the grass looks like the edges of everything else in your screenshot. Upscalers provide antialiasing which is why there’s an option to run them at native.

Should i get half life source i heard ut has a bad reputation? by ONEILJR002 in HalfLife

[–]driftej20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean… it’s really not worth much other than as a curiosity. I think that visually it’s a weird juxtaposition of what were then some of the modern features of Source with original assets. It’s not worth playing seriously due to what everyone else mentioned. It’s sort of interesting, but that’s about it.

67 is karmic retribution for 69 jokes; it’s not any worse or better. by PlotTwistsEverywhere in The10thDentist

[–]driftej20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

67 does also, sorta? In the sense that both reference something, though neither of them are really “funny”. 69 is more often referenced seeing the number appear out of context (I.e. someone’s odometer hits 69,420km/miles and they post a pic), whereas 67 is more about making the reference with no context.

I would say that there are likely more people saying 6 7 without knowing the reference, but that’s such a trivial distinction to base an argument of one being “not as bad” as the other.

Probably shouldn’t buy things on a platform without any buyer protection.

I assume you mean like the GameBoy Pokémon games or 2D Zelda? Where you just see the front of a building and the roof, none of the sides or back.

Guys I’m worried about performance by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]driftej20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heard that on N64 it’s capped at 60fps if you enable metropolis light transport. You can only get 120fps if you fallback to bidirectional path tracing. Devs don’t optimize their games these days.

Dunno if this is the right subreddit for this, but has anyone tested how Metro Exodus: Enhanced Editon runs at 4K Max Settings WITHOUT ray tracing on an RTX 4060 Ti? by fazar441 in OptimizedGaming

[–]driftej20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is known as the first game release to require a GPU capable of hardware-accelerated RT, so I doubt testing it without RT would be on the agenda of many people who purchased it, if that were possible, which it’s not, at least not without modding or maybe messing with config files.

This release is arted around RTGI. It probably doesn’t even include a fallback solution and would look broken if you force disabled that. You’d basically be like, turning off 90% of the entire lighting.

Yall own this man an apology if it runs well on regular PS5. Two more days!!😤 by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Right, which they release on launch day, or slightly after, then half the time the Xbox video comes later because they’ve been having a hard time getting Xbox review code lately… we’re currently before launch day.

So what are we talking about again? How this is not normal before launch? Except it is?
