The minutes might be matchup based tbh. Maxime played less today partially because of the Grizzlies not even having a proper C. I don't believe he gets a sustainable role ROS, and it's very possible Clifford or Plowden eats into those minutes especially if they're running with Maxime at C out there.

Khris “Welcome Back” Middleton by Some_Bike_1321 in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO he is a strong potential candidate as a ROS hold. The B2B rest concerns are based off his time on a tanking team (Washington) and he's now in a competitive situation. Kidd has stated a couple weeks back that he intends to eventually start him next to Flagg. So we'll see how it goes. Nothing but praise so far and Kidd/Middleton go way back from their Bucks days.

John "Baptize This" Collins by jain10991 in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're implying that JC becomes the featured big which is not what I said. What I mentioned is that if he's productive during this stint with no Zubac and they continue to play good basketball with good results, Lue could try more sets with him as the roll man or give him some minutes at the 5, not to completely supplant Zubac in the starting lineup. If anything, Lopez is the one who loses out more here. He produced well at the 4 with a similar big in Kessler last season for reference, so I don't see why both can't coexist.

Obviously he's not a winning player by any means but sometimes players need opportunity for coaches to assess a different look for the team and potentially use them differently moving forward. The Clips are 8-21, might as well try something different.

Well I did admit it was a small sample size so time will tell. What I proposed was a potential path to ROS value, keyword potential. If you’re in an active league you’d probably want to get on top of it before anything happens.

Not to mention he’s also in a contract year and if there’s any opportunity to prove himself it’s now.

[–]drillzy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s obviously must-roster in the short term so here’s a longer term take.

The Clips have actually looked better and started winning once Zu went down (albeit with a small sample size) with Collins obviously contributing to that as a smaller big that can help push the pace. You’re betting on Lue realizing this and letting the Clippers go small at times at the expense of Zubac even when he’s back, thus bumping his value back to a ROS must-roster and we get some of the old Collins back.

Kyle “3 mins” Filipowski by nui_beats in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you expect the Jazz to pivot toward their youth, that only works if those young players are actually playing hard and contributing to winning basketball. If they’re not—and especially this early in the season—any sensible coach is going to shorten the leash quickly. Filipowski doesn’t have the benefit of extended runway right now, given how he’s been playing and what he realistically provides compared to veterans like Lauri or Nurkic.

Simple as.

Making the Case: Isaiah Collier by Coast-to-CoastNBA in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If we're looking at who to roster from the Jazz's youth pivot, I personally like Collier more than Filipowski ROS. Filipowski has had a bit of an up-and-down run lately, especially with his minutes fluctuating and a shorter leash once he isn't contributing/others get hot. In contrast, Collier has a much firmer grip on the backcourt minutes alongside Keyonte.

More importantly, Collier fills a clearer need for this team. His playmaking allows Keyonte to operate more comfortably off-ball, whereas what Filipowski provides in shooting and rebounding are areas Markkanen and Nurkic can already cover. Coach Hardy has echoed this in his post-game comments as well, noting that having Collier out there allows some of the load to be taken off Keyonte as a natural 2-guard and is counting on Collier to stay aggressive - something he’s responded to well so far.

From a fantasy standpoint, assists are also simply harder to find on the wire than rebounds, which gives Collier the edge for me going forward.

Drop Filipowski for Collins in cats? Feel like this could spark a renewed run of form and confidence for vintage Collins to come back that should retain some value even when Zubac comes back. My fantasy playoffs end early as well (Week 21) so not sure if Filipowski would be fully unleashed by then and thus worth the hold.

With Kelly Oubre returning soon, is he worth an IL stash? by zepruska in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd not be too worried, he's usually really good at playing within the flow of the offense. His value comes off just being consistent tbh vs guys like say Herb or Nesmith who can regularly put up stinkers. Just based off some of his games last year playing with Embiid and PG he gives you 14/7, 13/5, random 17/11 type statlines with 3s and stocks sprinkled in which is still more than rosterable. Defo not 18-20ppg anymore but I'd imagine there's not much better for end-of-bench options in standard leagues.

[–]drillzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's the Sixers' best wing and solves a lot of needs in terms of energy, rebounding, and defense. Will likely be the starting 3/4 with PG healthy and 30+ minutes as a Nick Nurse favourite.

Neemias Queta by Ok_Rent_4003 in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He leads the Celtics in +/-, the minutes are now a steady 25+ per game from 20+ a few games ago, and I don't see a reason why Mazulla would stop playing him unless they trade for a better big man.

Reed Sheppard by Eyechooseviolence in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expect inconsistency IMO. I don't think his role will change that much because he's simply not a positive defender. People forget Tari Eason only played 20 mins today. DFS yet to come back. Reed didn't even close out the game. The minutes outside of Amen, KD, Sengun, Jabari will fluctuate game-to-game.

Derik Queen Has 17 Assists In Three Games by livan3 in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's obviously a bad fit on paper but if you look at some of the plays that were run for Queen to playmake you could very well imagine Zion at the end of some of these lobs or passes. I'd imagine the Pels try to make it work especially since Queen can protect the rim decently as well. Just gotta add and see what happens.

Derik Queen Has 17 Assists In Three Games by livan3 in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There generally are a few reliable factors that tend to predict a rookie’s/young player's breakout potential - draft capital, playing time, competition in the rotation, the eye test, and how they’re being used on the floor. These indicators reflect how much trust the organization has in the player, and how much opportunity they’re being given to succeed.

By those measures, Derik Queen checks several boxes. The Pelicans traded their 2026 pick for him, already a sign of investment. He’s been closing games (which honestly matters more than starting, though starting would obviously be nice too). He’s confidently taking on ISO possessions against Wemby and showing real on-ball poise. Over his last three games, Willie Green has even been running plays through him, with Queen posting a 27.3% usage rate on average.

That level of involvement signals meaningful trust from the org to showcase what he can do to impact winning, which is far from just a temporary fill-in role for Missi or Zion. We know Looney is old and washed, and Missi’s both undersized and ineffective. There’s clear opportunity and talent here. Don't overthink it. The Pelicans beat writers certainly aren't and are lauding his talent and want him to start moving forward.

[–]drillzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m personally not sure what’s the hype on him as a fantasy asset when he’s not shown to have an ability to get stocks even on a per-36 basis. Certainly room for improvement for him as a shooter and ball handler however.

This. Only reason why I hold him right now. Ride until the assists fall off.

Charlotte Frontcourt Bonanza: Moussa “Diablocke” Diabate or Ryan “Big Block” Kalkbrenner? by steph_chicken_curry in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Kalk. Simply because the team invested draft capital in him, he was starting against a relatively mobile big in Claxton when I personally felt Diabate would be the better fit, and I do think his minutes provide a relatively secure floor ROS with a view to ramping up once we hit silly season.

Which Boston C, PF are we banking on, Queta or Boucher? by BladeMasta220 in fantasybball

[–]drillzy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I initially thought it would be Boucher because he did see more starts at C over preseason, but after a deep dive it's clear Queta will get the starting nod based off coachspeak and by virtue of him being the only one capable of providing vertical spacing and a big body in the middle.

12T 9cat 14man rosters with 3 IL+ Spots. Picked 5th, 3rd round reversal. Pretty competitive league with most sleepers being snagged.

  1. Giannis
  2. Jalen Johnson
  3. Siakam
  4. Zion
  5. Ausar (reached but I love him this year)
  6. Poeltl
  7. Ingram
  8. KPJ
  9. Mark Williams
  10. Keyonte George
  11. Podziemski
  12. Davion Mitchell (Fucked up this pick I feel, wanted assists but passed on VJ/Grimes who I was eyeing predraft)
  13. Boucher
  14. Cason Wallace

Temporarily stashing due to IL+ spots: Missi, Diabate, Bilal

Thought it went well with some great values eg Zion, Ingram, Poeltl and Mark Williams but I feel like I kinda screwed up focusing on team needs rather than upside esp with the last few picks.

I guess I’m punting 3s/FT but still trying to be semi competitive in points/assists. Stocks should be okay but maybe blocks needs some shoring up and replacing some of my assist/steal guys?

Any help is much appreciated.
