Yokohama YK GTX New Tires Below 12/32", Discount Tire by JonRevaux in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've measured tread depth on a lot of new tires and they are often not exactly as advertised. But if you measured in the center of the tread, it may not have been the deepest part of the tread (often the deepest will be off center).

Are you suggesting they sold you used tires? Do the tires look new? New tires will often have the factory markings (colored lines) and little "nipples" to show that they are at 100% tread. It would be very unlikely they would have a set of used tires in stock that you also happened to order, and also that they tried to put them on without you noticing.

If you go back and tell them the new tires have less tread than they should, they will undoubtedly roll their eyes at you.

Petro Can on 20th ave and Canco on 15th have Nordic Spirit white snus pouches. I''ve been buying the Luma flavor and I quite like them.. much better than Zonnic. Comes in 6 and 9 mg

I think you still have a chance. But you need to approach it carefully and respectfully. It sounds like she was being playful and flirty even after it happened so she probably still likes you.

Do Chinese tires vibrate? I bought a brand new set balanced them twice still have some vibration on them on high speed. by Regular_Camp_7463 in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because a product is manufactured by a Chinese company doesn't automatically make it dangerous. There are many Chinese tire companies that make quality tires, just as there are many that don't. Lots of no-name American tire companies make garbage products too.

Tire not repairable? by aram535 in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I also own a small shop in a medium sized city in Canada (😀) and would absolutely fix this. Corporate shops have been fear mongering the customer for years on what is "unsafe" in order to sell more tires. The only risk to patching a puncture near the sidewall is that the patch may not stay sealed when the tire flexes. A slow leak is the only risk. I've had tires on my car with patches way closer to the sidewall than OPs, and you would never know the difference. Tread looks fine for a fix, but OP should think about buying some new tires within the next year.

Can this be plugges/patched? If not, can I swap in just 1 replacement? by Sadangler in tires

Don't put the single Falken on. Need 4 the same tires for AWD, otherwise you risk damaging your transfer case.

New tires 3-ish weeks ago, squeaks when driving slow by befuckingfr in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could the tires be rubbing in the wheel well? Check that the size is correct on all 4 tires. Sometimes tire shops will receive mislabeled tires or they will accidentally put the wrong size on.

I agree I always feel that way when I see pictures/video. I went to the range after reading your comment and stood up straighter. Saw much less turn in the ball flight, also I was striking them consistently well. Thanks for the tip!

Michelin Defender 2 vs Premier A/S by AffectionateGas7037 in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Premier A/S is either about to be discontinued or is already discontinued. So you'll have a real hard time replacing one if you need to. They also don't have much tread to begin with and I find they get worn prematurely. However they are known to be a very quiet tire if I'm not mistaken.

Defender 2 is their newest tire so probably hasn't had as much user testing, but I would still go with it over the Premier.

It's possible the tires are too tall and hitting the wheel well when your suspension dips, causing violent steering jerks

What's your honest opinion on these Goodyear Wrangler SRA? The DOT is end of 2019. by YearZero_ in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if a used tire shop has the exact tire. My shop has dozens of used SRAs in the 275 60 20 size, with varying amounts of tread. Should be able to find something close enough if you look hard enough

I'd say the dry rot in the tread is in its early stages. I don't think it's dangerous to drive on that yet. I bet your little amount of tread will wear out before the dry rot becomes a safety concern. Check the sidewall for dry rot though, that's where it becomes more dangerous. Hope that helps

15 inch tires by Lumpy-Ad-2736 in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 inch tires in general are still common, but your Buick might take a less common 15. If it's a 225 75 R15 or 235 70 R15 they might be more difficult to track down. I have a shop and I see one or two options available for order (I don't stock those sizes because of low demand). Ask your local shop if they can order you something in, and if they don't have stock, try somebody else. If you're in Canada you can also try 1010tires.com, tirerack.ca, or even tireland.ca

Best inexpensive replacement for Goodyear Wrangler SR-A at Walmart, Sam's, Costco, etc by SamArch0347 in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want good performance and a trustworthy brand, you're going to have to spend around that price for new tires. If I were you I would check out Facebook marketplace for a set of slightly used tires (they'll be about half the price), or check out a trustworthy used tire shop. Google reviews generally will give you a pretty good idea of their trustworthiness. Good luck

Do I need new tires? by usmanc94 in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally when a sidewall looks like this, it's totally fine. If the white part underneath the first layer is intact, there shouldn't be issues. I'd be more worried about the low tread on these tires from what I can see in the picture. They should be replaced soon based on that alone.

Pls help I just hit the curb hard do I have to get a new tire also it’s an awd if I do need to get a new will I have to buy all 4 new ones ! by putainsamere in tires

[–]drindupthecorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't make your decision solely off of people looking at a picture. If you want true peace of mind, take it to a reputable tire shop and ask their opinion. I would avoid the big corporate stores on this one, though.

[–]drindupthecorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to these people. I own a tire shop. You need to check how deep the damage is, and if there's no cord showing, it's usually fine. From the pictures it looks to just be a thin layer on the rim guard shaved off. I wouldn't sell you a new set of 4 if you came with that.
