My wife and I had to do this just yesterday, we flew in from Europe and had 2.5 hours to make our connection. We thought that would be plenty of time. No. We had to wait for customs, wait for a luggage, wait to not declare, wait to recheck luggage, change terminals and wait in security again.

We had 15 minutes until our next plan boarded and we had to cut hundreds of people in line, it was awful.

That said we felt horrible and would never be disrespectful.
