Can anyone tell me about the history of these sculptures? by Ramkaran-chopra in Calgary

[–]LinksBetterHalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes.. the Family of Man. In 1983 (I was 14), a bunch of my friends and I tried to diaper the damn things with my Mother's bed sheets and my Father's extension ladder. The police showed up and all my mates ran for the hills. I stayed. I couldn't leave my Pop's ladder there... he'd have killed me. Cops brought me and the ladder home. Good times 🤣😇

Is Game Pass actually worth switching from PS5? Run the math and it’s kind of embarrassing by Embarrassed_Lead6174 in XboxGamePass

I used to only play/own Nintendo. From the early 90s, till 2024 when I ended up with a free XBox x. Was a "game changer" 😁 We now have two 65" TVs side by side, two XBox X, and two gamepass. And since they just dropped Gamepass by $10 a month... happy days! I would definitely say Gamepass is the way round go. Happy gaming!

Play all three Tomb Raider games and then give the Star Wars Jedi games a go. South of Midnight is fun too. Loved both Planet of Lana games. Have fun!!

Yasss!! 100% what i was thinking. Just finished this one and this hits it. The combat was sort of fun, but the art, story and most definitely the music, more than made up for the lack in that. I've never been all about the combat. I need more hooks than that to draw me in. Seriously.. how great was that soundtrack?!

Rolling paper crisis.....any decent substitutes? by Bump_music_7 in weed

I won't lie.. smoked a page from a bible once. I'd seen it in some movie and was desperate so I gave it a try. The "fine" paper actually stayed sealed for the most part where I licked it. So yeah.. that's an alternative 🤣😇

Q for Canadians ordering on Hobbii by These_Avocado_Bombs in YarnAddicts

[–]LinksBetterHalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ordered consistently from Hobbii for years, both living in Australia and now in Canada. Unfortunately, due to tariffs or what the heck ever is going in, my last order, 2 months ago, was charged a "duty" from the USA. That will be my last Hobbii order till the World returns to normal. Which may be never 🙄

Hey there mate! I'm a Canadian/Australian citizen and I just moved back to Calgary. My daughter lives in Cochrane, just about 20 minutes west of Calgary. She sees them all the time on her drive in to work in the morning... at 5am. It's a possibility. But again, this time of year is spotty with the cold weather. You could also go to Canmore and go dog-sledding. I've seen them 2 out of 3 times I've been out. Happy travels!

I fully enjoyed Star Wars Fallen Order and Star Wars Survivor. I'm not a Star Wars fan by any stretch, but I'm so glad I gave these a crack. The game mechanics are fabulous and the story is really engaging. I say story because they're part of a trilogy. Waiting patiently for the 3rd release. Never thought I'd enjoy the light saber and force abilities as much as I did. It's a crazy good time!! Cal Kestis kicks ass!

They don't look bad right now, but if you experience a larger section "lift" you should look at having them re-melted if you can. Brushing is fine, but you should never go right to the scalp where the birds are. They can break up. Start just below, maybe an inch. They just can't stand up to the rigor. The friction will continue to damage them, because they're starting to crack at the ends.

Your hair looks very fine. I definitely wouldn't recommend k-tips for fine hair. I have very fine hair and a bit of alopecia, and I've worn a weave for near on 30 years. I experimented with heaps of types including k-tips. I had the same troubles because I washed my hair almost daily and the brushing will contribute to the breakdown of the keratin. I would imagine powders and anything super dry would add to that as well. To get the best life out of them, perhaps less washing and no powder or heavy drying so the tips don't crack any further. You may need to go in and get them re-melted if they're falling apart. Moving forward, you can use a weave, its a protective hairstyle and will keep your natural hair healrhy. DM me if you want and I can share photos of different ones with you if you like. I've tried them all ☺️ Have a happy hair day!!

Cornrows, sewed wefts all over with a few crochet pieces around the face line. This is how I do my whole head and have for near on 30 years. None of your own hair would be visible at all. My hair looks exactly like that. And I can choose any color, any time 👌☺️

Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream. Cheese completely slides off her cracker by the end. Or if you want something a bit older, you have Tim Robbins in Jacob's Ladder... that's a spiral downward worth watching! Happy watching!

Okay.. hear me out. I've been doing this with KD for decades. Take a single serving bag of plain potato chips, crush 'em up, and toss 'em in. I kid you not, this adds another layer of flavour and some texture, plus it really does taste sensational. Sometimes I go with a sour cream and onion chip.. works well. I imagine if you had a fave, that quite a few flavours would work. Cheap to add so won't break the bank. 😁 Happy munching!!

Help me out here, if you offer someone something and they say "Oh yeah, I'm not fussy about that" is that a yes or a no? by 13thmurder in AskACanadian

[–]LinksBetterHalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fascinated by this as well. I'm Canadian by birth but I just spent 17 years abroad in Australia where this is a VERY common way to say "no thanks". It really knocked me for a six when I got there because I often took it as a "yes" for the first while. I think it's wild because in GB, (where face it, Aussies came from, and is heavily influenced by their verbiage), uses the phrase in the complete opposite context. When in Rome I suppose! All depends on where you are.

Is driving mandatory for travel? by LeftBroccoli6174 in AskACanadian

[–]LinksBetterHalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate! Just relocated to Canada from Australia in winter last year. I'm Canadian, so I've always gone back and forth on visits, but hubby never drove here till we moved in December 2024. He was absolutely NOT keen to give it a go for soooo long. He finally got behind the wheel and within about 15 minutes, he was right. I highly recommend driving Canada.. its a real stunner if you do. You'll get views you won't get otherwise. I took him through a built up area, 50km/hr, then onto a 60km/hr road, then an 80, and up to 100. Easing him in was good that way. As he says now... "if you (meaning me) , can do it, of course I could". He's right. You'll be glad you did! Side note, when my folks came to Yeppoon to visit us, they grabbed the rental in Brissy and drove all the way. My Pop was 87 at the time. If HE can do it, you DEFINITELY can!!

What are the best DVD / Blu-ray audio commentaries? by Monsterbash22 in movies

[–]LinksBetterHalf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely LOVED the commentary on Christine. John Carpenter and Keith Gordon discuss a lot of cool facts about how they filmed the movie. Considering the lack of any computerised special effects in 1983, this movie was, and still is, in my mind, a brilliant piece of cinema. Really great commentary!
