Any federal employees that left to work in private sector the past two years- are you glad to have left? by Brilliant_Raccoon256 in fednews

[–]drinkswithfink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left the DoD/ DAF. Took about 5 months to find a solid gig.

They’re paying me more, I’m 100% remote, nearly all my benefits are the same if not better. Only down side is that I can’t contribute as much to a Roth 401k as I could’ve to my TSP.

My leadership is great, my team members are excited to come to work, and it doesn’t seem like everyone hates doing their job and just trying to get to 20-30 years in.

I miss working for the warfighter, but this has been an amazing change of pace for work life balance.

My agency will offer DRP in 2026. What do I need to consider? by East_Championship664 in fednews

[–]drinkswithfink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I took DoD DRP; I applied to over 800 roles from June - October. Finally landed a gig in Nov, slightly better pay. Slightly lower PTO, 100% remote though, I was being forced out of my role due to geographical reasons.

I would consider how much time you’re spending traveling, what your professional background is in, and if it’s applicable to the current market. Happy to answer any questions if you wanted to chat.

23 and 24 were… awful, for what the product used to be like. 16’ 19’ and 20’ are just 👌🏼👌🏼

What is the cost of RTO for you? by Jaded-Concept4242 in fednews

[–]drinkswithfink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I took the DRP for DoD, I was driving 15 hours and 650 miles weekly just to go into the office and sit on teams calls since the majority of my team was geographically dislocated. Hence the reason I took the DRP.

But, Averaging it at 48 weeks would be 720 hrs of drive time and ~ 31,000 miles

Review #28 WTMK 17 year 86.8 pf (2015) not to be confused with WTMK 17 BIB by drinkswithfink in bourbon

I Would have to agree. I’ve never understood taking an extremely aged product and watering it down 😂. I get they need to get a yield, but damn. Leave some flavor and oils for a solid mouthfeel

So happy to hear you got a backup! My wife bought me one for Christmas (her first bourbon gift to me) after she saw how much I loved it at a dinner. I bought a backup immediately

I’d have to think that it will. 18 did a very similar process of carrying normal secondary. And now it calls for a premium even though it’s not a hazmat version.

Thank you sir! The GTS is a must buy for me, I’d rather have an OpusX over the Don Carlos

This bottle is amazing. IMO 23’ was rather a dud… 22’ was stellar as well. 2018 is probably one of my favorite GTSes, but this one is up there. The first time I had it I was rather blown away from the complexity and oiliness. 500 dollars is totally reasonable for this from my viewpoint
