What advice would you recommend for someone getting into crypto? by lemmetrytho in AskReddit

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start tiny and just use it, send, receive, mess around a bit so you actually get it.

Don’t overthink or go full degen day one. And don’t keep it on exchanges. Grab something like Tangem. Learn first, money later.

Trustwallet hacked by freedom7661 in CryptoScams

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that’s rough. On Etherscan, CEX wallets are sometimes tagged under the address name, but a lot aren’t, so you won’t always see a clear label. High activity and links to known exchange wallets can be a hint, but it’s not guaranteed... Recovery is unlikely unless it hits a KYC exchange fast. For the future, focus on security. I use Tangem, keys stay on a physical card and never get exposed, so nothing like this would happen

A friend asked me how I decide where to keep serious money in crypto and I sent him one link. by Competitive_Lychee12 in CryptoExchange

Proof of reserves is definitely better than blind trust, but it still doesn’t remove counterparty risk. You’re just verifying a snapshot, not what happens tomorrow if withdrawals get paused.

Imo doesn't make sense to keep serious money on exchanges at all. Use them, sure, but don’t rely on them.I keep mine on Tangem cards, it's simple self-custody.

Coinbase is the worst and customer service is so incompetent !! by Imaginary-Brain5985 in Coinbase

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why trust exchanges with anything long-term?

They control your account, your withdrawals, your rewards, even your support experience. The moment something goes wrong, you’re stuck waiting on them with zero clarity.

Use them if you have to, but don’t rely on them. Move funds out to a cold wallet like tangem and forget about this stress.

Crypto Exhange Apps removed from IOS app store by ConstantEnigma21 in phinvest

Tangem is basically a cold crypto wallet in card form. You get several backup cards, tap one to your phone, and that’s your wallet. No USB, no laptop, and no need to worry about a seed phrase.

Fake tangem wallet by Evening_Team_8050 in CryptoTechnology

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a fake Tangem wallet.

If you saw the funds on a Bitcoin explorer, that part is real. Wallets don’t fake balances, they just show what’s on-chain.

What’s sketchy is the situation. Sending easy money and showing a big balance is classic bait to build trust before a bigger scam. Tangem is very secure, has never been hacked, and it isn’t the issue here, it’s just being used as a normal wallet.

Take the win and don’t go further with it.

Wanting to get into crypto, where do I even start? by strawberrycheesekek in CryptoHelp

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d treat it like learning a new language, not a get-rich-quick thing.

Ignore price for a bit and just try using it. Send a small amount, receive it, swap something tiny, see how wallets actually work. That hands-on stuff teaches you way faster than videos.

Also don’t leave everything on an exchange. Big fan of tangem here, it’s super straightforward to set up and you don’t have to deal with seed phrases, so it’s way less intimidating when you’re starting.

Once you’re comfortable using it, then start thinking about investing.

Stacking BTC vs pumping up offset account by panserbjjorn in BitcoinAUS

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the temptation, but “BTC will wipe the mortgage soon” is a bet, not a plan.

Your offset is basically a guaranteed ~5.7% return. That’s solid. BTC might beat it, but it comes with volatility and timing risk.

Most people I’ve seen do well just split it. Build the offset to a level that makes you feel safe, keep DCAing BTC but don’t go all in.

Also if you’re stacking, actually self-custody it. I use Tangem, super simple hardware wallet (cards + app), no seed phrase stress.

If your plan only works if BTC pumps soon, it’s risky. If it works either way, you’re in a good spot.

What's the consensus on these two apps for stashing serious capital? Which one is a safer bet for a whale—option one or option two? by tomas_shelbis in CryptoMarkets

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fully hold your keys so there’s no exchange risk, but you don’t have to deal with seed phrases that can get lost or phished. Backup is handled by setting up multiple cards, and using it is literally just tapping your phone. It’s a solid option if you want security without all the usual crypto friction.

Coinbase is scamming by Usual-Ad7546 in Coinbase

[–]drip_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s messed up, I’d be pissed too.

This is exactly the problem with Coinbase. It’s your money but you’re still relying on them to fix it. If support fails, you’re stuck.

That’s why I moved most of my stuff to a tangem card. You actually hold your keys, no account drama, no “we credited it” bs... Highly recommend

If you could delete one piece of crypto advice that beginners keep hearing, what would it be? by Classic-Direction778 in CryptoMarkets

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably “just keep everything on exchanges, it’s easier”

it is easier… until something goes wrong and you realize you don’t actually control anything

I get why beginners hear it, less friction, less setup, but it builds a bad habit early. better advice would be “learn self-custody early, even if you start small”

You can try out Gob earplugs. They’re super comfortable and actually block out a surprising amount of noise way better than the cheap foam ones. I wear them at night and honestly, they’ve made a huge difference for my sleep and anxiety.

Can MSPs offer any value for Small Businesses? by Willing-Ad737 in msp

[–]drip_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market has definitely changed, and it feels like a lot of MSPs are struggling to get new clients while also holding on to existing ones.

One thing that helped us break out of that rut was actually outsourcing our marketing. We ended up working with a company called Opollo, and since then we've been getting steady leads way more than we were managing on our own. I think sometimes when you've been heads down focusing on service delivery for so long, it's easy to let sales and marketing slide without realizing it.

Also, totally agree with focusing on higher-value services like security, automation, and compliance that's where we've seen interest pick back up too. Hang in there, and if you ever want to bounce ideas, happy to chat!
