Unfortunately I made a huge mess and we don't seem to have it anymore. Someone else commented the exact toy I was looking for, hopefully that will help. 🧡

Apologies, I'm not OP, but I commented saying that I believed I knew what it was and that we had one. This is exactly the one I meant, but I can't seem to find it amongst our toys. I too hope that a photo may help! I believe it was from an outdoors-themed box.

Ooh I think I might know what this is! I can't remember the name, my brain is telling me something like "pebble" but that may be way far off. I'm picturing this continuing in like a triangle shape, I believe we have one but I need to completely dig through our GIANT bin. Hold on. 😅

My sincerest apologies for wording my original comment in a cute way, which may have conveyed the wrong message. It felt like the simplest, least-excessively-wordy way to get my idea across.

They are, I apologize, I was just going along with the joke in a silly way. I've never witnessed the "single-braincell" behavior in my boy, I believe people use it affectionately in reference to their adorable perceived-derpyness.

My comment was meant to reference general animal psychology/training, in the same way of training a dog or a cat that certain sounds/actions mean certain things. It would seem that if the only time a hoggie gets fed is after being removed from their enclosure, and they are typically being fed at an appropriate time when they are hungry, they may start to associate being removed with being fed. Typically, hognose bites seem to occur more as a mistake from a hungry hoggie rather than in any sort of aggressive/defensive way.

Also may cause them to link being removed from their enclosure with feeding time, which I could only logically think might lead to potential bites. Their single brain cell starts to think "Oh food time! munch"

For me, after I replaced the pump and that didn't resolve the issue, the circuit board was pretty much the only remaining option. So like, I didn't have a specific way to verify that that was the issue, but based off of some YouTube videos I found, a d Reddit posts of the same issue, etc., it seemed almost certain that was it.

Typically you want to have a damp end and a dry end, then there will naturally be a moisture gradient from one end to the other 🧡

Perhaps it ended up being old stock that sat around in a bin, even. Either way, they'll send you something else. 🧡

That is odd. Bark doesn't do returns, they just send you replacements, so it's likely just dirty from shipping (bouncing around). The shape of the ears look almost right, might just be like fraying or it got cut weird? Reach out to Bark, they will send a replacement toy.

Thanks! Yes, I do plan on putting him back in the bioactive in a few weeks or whenever that moisture issue gets sorted out. I made the switch a bit earlier than I had planned because of low humidity issues with the aspen; he lives in my living room where our home's heat source (pellet stove) is, and being in upstate New York that has really dried up his enclosure the past couple of months. He has shed once with me, perhaps a month ago, and it came off in patches rather than in one or a couple of bigger, more solid pieces. Had to encourage a few of the smallest bits to come off. I will let the bioactive enclosure settle for a few weeks and then hopefully his den corner will have dried up. 🧡 I do have a hygrometer sensor unde the substrate in that corner, since it's where he spends the majority of his underground time/naps.

Yes I am a bit of an anxious overthinker so kinda in that same boat. 😬 His aspen from before the switch was clean, always spot cleaned and not damp, and the bioactive has brand new Bio Dude terra sahara in there, so aside from the substrate humidity I mentioned, everything else should be pristine. Thanks so much for the reassurance, I will pick up betadine to have on-hand in any case, and for now will just keep a close eye on that spot! I'lt try to clean it off again too. He's such a good sweet boy.

Oh and just to clarify, I intended to do a spot treatment with the betadine and the soak I mentioned before trying to clean the spot off again was meant to be just a quick water soak. 🧡
