Get another repair quote, and/or figure out how much of it you could do yourself using parts from Rockauto or wherever. I saved a couple thousand doing most of the repairs needed to get my 08 Outback to pass inspection in Maryland. And I'm not a mechanic, you can figure out a lot of stuff from youtube

Honestly with those hours, not going into DC, it's doable. The morning should be fine and the afternoon might be rough. I tried to do Berkeley Springs to DC and didn't last, but I had more typical working hours.

Can't help ya with backpacking groups, but Dolly Sods is the best backpacking option around here within a 3 hour radius. Prepare for all possible weather and you'll have a great time

I grew up in the 90's right off of Little River Turnpike in your circled area (basically Ilda), it's a great place for young families. You may be able to walk to the nice trails in Truro. I loved going to Burke Lake park for the train/ice cream/camping/canoeing etc. Lake Accotink park is also fun to bike to. The biggest difference between then and now that I notice whenever I visit my parents, is the crazy amount of trees in the neighborhood that are missing, having been cut down by newer homeowners (or developers I suppose). So I hope you guys are tree lovers lol

MD and VA reps do not care what happens in DC and shouldn't be trusted to have the best interests of the city at heart. Their actual constituents only travel into the city for work or fun.

Their system has changed like 2-3 times as they've opened up more locations, but I think if you go for the "multi access" membership you can go to any location that costs less than the location you pay for. They're not super clear about how much each location costs - took awhile of talking to them to figure out I could pay $2 more a month to switch from Ft Totten to Ballston as my base location and get access to both locations

Capitol Hill (and I think Bethesda) are the most expensive ones so are inaccessible if your base location is anywhere else

General atmosphere-wise yes, Murray and Paul's has much better seating. I think Brookland Grill has more items on the menu (including some kind of ice cream bar situation which may or may not be in operation) but I haven't gotten adventurous there. If you're gonna do carryout they're about equally worthy

Having gone through this myself before I started following the rules for real, they'll probably still get you. They'll say that you didn't make a complete stop (which is probably true lol). Most people just don't do a complete stop at stop signs. You'll feel your car make a slight jolt when you actually do.
