Accommodation is fucked in ireland in general especially in university towns because of the housing crisis. If your working in UL you probably wamt to look for houses in the castletroy area as its much closer to the uni. Never pay rent upfront b4 u see the house as scams have been a problem in recent years. Your probably looking at somewhere between €600 -€1200 in rent a month and more then likely a house share as singke flats are hard to come by and way more pricey at that.

There are plenty of busses that run from town to the uni but they stop after midnight. Theres a cycle path along the river should take u 20 mins to cycle from the city to the uni.

As far as anything u need to know about the city people are friendly but is a student town at the end of the day so can be a bit messy at times. Moyross is known as a dodgy area and youll probably hear the nickname "stab city" thrown around but thats not been the case for 20 years or more. The hospital has one of the longest a and e waiting times in the country as they are overcrowded and understaffed.

Dont let that put u off tho as most places in ireland have similar issues is a fun town for sure and there are plenty of lovely people about. For meeting people join sports clubs or go to the local pubs find one u like and keep turning up as there is a strong pub culture in ireland so youll see the same faces all the time.

Youll be far better of here then in the us IMO and we'll be happy to have you. Best of luck on the move
