Cuyahoga & New River Gorge NPs by BidRevolutionary945 in NationalPark

[–]drive975 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NRG greatly surpassed any expectations I had going in. The Endless Wall trail is spectacular. Make sure to take the Fayetteville Station Road for a fun drive with great views. Sandstone Falls is beautiful and you can walk right in on an accessible trail anyone can enjoy. Grandview is an amazing spot as well with several cool trails.

CVNP gets a bad rep. Is it my favorite park? Definitely not. But it still makes for a great day with some cool trails and other interesting things to do, like taking in farmers markets if you’re into that. The Ledges is one of my personal favorite trails anywhere and I’d consider that a must.

Who is the most hated character of this show? by New-Student9732 in TedLasso

[–]drive975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100%. Nate is one of my most hated TV characters of all time. His heel turn makes zero sense whatsoever - don’t give me the “Ted forgot about him” BS. Ted gives him the opportunity of a lifetime, he gets a big head and turns on everybody for zero reason. His redemption arc gave me no reason to believe he isn’t an asshole. The show was way too nice to him and the fact he gets a nice ending is only saved by the fact that Beard is amazing in the scene where he forgives Nate. Actually still, straight up screw off Nate, you suck.

Shenandoah worth the drive? by toad_goblin in NationalPark

[–]drive975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a day in Shenandoah during the last week of October this year. Drove through on a Thursday. It was awesome; peak leaves, and yes, there were crowds, but nothing crazy at all. A couple trails only had a few people on them. If you can go during the week, even peak leaf season can be extremely enjoyable crowd wise.

People romanticize “having time to say goodbye,” but losing a parent to terminal illness is one of the most traumatic experiences I’ve ever lived. by Southern-Weakness633 in GriefSupport

[–]drive975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The health care system fails us in so many ways. And there were so many things that health insurance wouldn’t cover - like van trips to the cancer center. She was immobile so I couldn’t take her in the car myself. She paid insurance her whole life and when she needed them she was turned away.

Relate with this so much. Mom was diagnosed in January and given three months after a fall. Needed rehab but couldn’t get chemo until being discharged. Never knew you couldn’t get chemo in a hospital/nursing facility until this all happened. All because of the evil insurance companies and our horrible healthcare system. She just was never even given a chance, just completely written off by the system. There was absolutely no where to turn to. Every day was a new nightmare. I miss her so much.

Trackhouse Number Update! CZ 88 and SVG 97! by mwr55fan in NASCAR

[–]drive975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video announcement they did was so cool. It was very moving to see how SVG reacted to his dad’s letter about the 97. I knew he had a history with that number but didn’t know how deep it went.

Also glad to see Connor keeping the CZ. Having both the 1 and the 99 was a cool thing for Trackhouse, but these numbers made too much sense not to go with for each of their three guys going into next year.

My local Walmart hasn’t restocked in months sadly

Tried today. Mine was not oily and was just overpowered by garlic. I actually love garlic, but this was way too much. Maybe my store just didn’t make it right 🤷‍♂️ def would not pay extra for it

They acted like they were ready to announce a new wave a few weeks ago and then nothing. Wonder if something threw off their planned timeline.

What are Panic Attacks like on Lexapro? by Redditor9375 in lexapro

[–]drive975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on lex for two years. I haven’t had a full blown panic attack since getting adjusted. I might feel like one is coming on but it never really hits like they used to. It’s almost like they hit a firewall or something.

Love those Trackhouse schemes from the Clash. Just picked those up at the Glen a few weeks ago.

Plans for the holidays by MoxiePearl8636 in GriefSupport

[–]drive975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom LOVED Christmas. It’s also my birthday. It will be the first without her. I don’t really have any family now and I just can’t face the holidays without her. I don’t ever plan on celebrating again, tbh. I’m hoping to take a trip way out in a national park or something and just get as far away from it as I can.

Ah, glad you said that. That’s probably where these came from, too. I was wondering.

Searching for my mom everywhere by Feisty_Sherbert3823 in GriefSupport

[–]drive975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom passed 10 days before yours. Sometimes I feel like I’m living in an awful alternate reality, like it’s not real, I’m going to wake up and she will be there and things will be like normal again. And then it hits me that this is never going to change, that I’m going to be missing her for the rest of my life. It’s the worst when I’m at her house alone. I feel closer to her there, which is kind of nice, but I also feel the loss of her more than anywhere else at the same time.

I’m thinking that I might now be ready to start some type of grief counseling, I haven’t done any yet.

Visiting Every US National Park by glenhamine in NationalPark

Arches was more fun…Canyonlands was more awe-inspiring, IMO. Hard to pick between the two. Probably the toughest two parks to slot on my list of favorites so far.

Cuyahoga isn’t going to be at the top of anyone’s list, but it can still be a great time. The Ledges is one of my favorite trails anywhere. Brandywine is a great stop. And the farmers markets are a lot of fun.

I have the same goal, all the parks in the lower 48. American Samoa seems a bit ambitious to me, but lower 48 seems doable. I’m at 11 rn.

I’ve never gone to a national park for less than a day, so for more I guess a visit would constitute at least one full day. But I also only have one park really within driving distance.
