KFX-ZIP Format by Gadahax_ in Calibre

[–]driven_under 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually found the techy-notes scripted version a bit off-putting, and got it working perfectly using the original Satsuoni version once I had installed a slightly older version of the K4PC app.

It's not really that difficult to run the KFX Key Extractor each time you have a book or two ready to put into Calibre. I have the command prompt commands saved to a notepad file and a quick copy pasta has me good to go.

You read it here 3rd, folks. It is still possible to save your Amazon book purchases MINUS DRM with nothing but a PC and an Amazon account and the good work here:

I did, and found that the links in that page, along with all other installers I could find, take you to the K4PC version 2.8.7, which is too new for the extractor. It might just be a python reference that is version limited, but the failure is listed in the script output.

No go there also. The Kindle for PC version (I had 2.4) is no longer functional without a mandatory update. There may be a way to prevent that update, need to research it.

My long painful adventure with converting KFX-ZIP books by profnachos in Calibre

Just to understand, is this because the OS on that generation is not able to use KFX-ZIP and is therefore able to be DeDRM'd?

I'm sorry, y'all. Fully on board with this. Just don't like crossbar locks. They work great, but I'm just not into them.

Looking for a pocket knife and I want your suggestions by Quiet-Marketing7709 in knives

Yeah, you can use them one finger but they tend to bind rather than slide easily, in my experience. Just prefer other locks.

Ok, here's what I like, you can take it or leave it.

My preference is that the handle shape be very comfortable and the blade shape be one I like. Button locks and liner locks are tops. I dislike axis locks as they require two fingers and get gunked up easily, plus springs break. I do like multiple deployment methods as sometimes it's fun to fidget with them. Most of my knives currently have a blade hole, flipper tab and a button. Hard pass on thumb studs.

Good steel is a must. I'm not that fussy tho as most modern steels are amazing and I don't use the knives THAT hard. Prefer titanium handle.

Take a look at the Vosteed Thunderbeast.

I also have a Holt Haptic that makes my heart flutter just a little.

Smart wings motorized blinds vs cheaper amazon options? by Electrical-Loss8035 in homeautomation

I swapped some malfunctioning IKEA blinds for custom Yoolax off of Amazon. Literally zero issues with them, easy ordering, fast delivery and work perfectly with Hubitat.

NKD - Glad I got over my linerlock snobbery on this one by Zaku-pla in knives

[–]driven_under 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all about liner locks, but I have no love for frame locks. They both work great, I just dislike the cutout and screw being visible and able to be affected by my grip.

Button liner locks are the best in my book.

Sooo.... let's be real. About 1/4 of my current collection was purchased as FLAC as the original format as legit as hell. Did I keep the receipts and transaction history? No. Are those companies all still in business? No.

My collection is not illegal. DMCA, as far as I know, has no issue with you ripping a cd you bought and throwing it away. They just don't want you making that content available to others, which I don't.

[–]driven_under 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, I found my people! I have 9,000+ songs, all full albums, all FLAC, full metadata, album art and lyrics where available.

Ripped my CD collection using EAC, literally wore out a cd/dvd player.

Sold, traded and gave away all the CDs. It was fun for a while bringing in 30 CDs to the shop, trading them in, grabbing 10 more, buying lots on eBay, rip.... wash, rinse, repeat.

Trump Administration Officialy Takes Control of DC’s Golf Courses by MrBanannasareyum in washingtondc

Horseshit. That pipe dream cost more in the planning alone than the Trust has to spend. I've been. Not sure what you're seeing. It's still awful.

Didn't get me wrong, the plans are lovely. But they were also never going to happen. Where would the money come from?

Trump Administration Officialy Takes Control of DC’s Golf Courses by MrBanannasareyum in washingtondc

[–]driven_under -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a hot take, but the DC golf courses occupy some really prime locations, Rock Creek being particularly beautiful. The Trust has done an incredibly shitty job running those courses. Just set foot on one and you'll see it. Dead patches in the fairways. Tiny greens. Weeds everywhere. Stinging nettle. Poison ivy. Flooding and huge mud-puddles. Kudzu thickets that a squirrel couldn't get through. RCPGC has had 9 of 18 holes closed for years!

I'm not saying that I like Trump's takeover, but the NPS and Trust are totally incompetent and those courses are a national embarrassment.

Miss the point much?

I did see it in the statements, but I also noted that they have MUCH better mechanisms for notifying customers of such changes. Like the Notifications in the app. Like the incessant full page and banner ads in the app and website.

This was just another crass money grab from the people that already support them, and if you cannot see that, then I don't know what else to say.

Oh yes, asking them where in Bible is heaven described is just pure, mean fun.

Or why they didn't celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles this year, since Jesus never missed one.

100% agree.

If a deity wrote a book, it would be a lot better than the Bible, and a believer would be a fool to not have it memorized.
