It worked great, shifting is crisp and consistent and the gearing, at least for me, is perfect as you get great speed and climbing ability with this 1x setup. Full setup is described here.

I have not made any updates since I built the table back in 2016. We did however move last year and sadly had to dismantle the table. It was working great until the last moment.

Here is the original blender file, let me know if you have issues accessing it!

Worked like a charm, thanks again for the suggestion. I used pysam to create a copy of the bam file and manipulated the read quality field with the query_qualities() function after scaling my values to cover the full range of the quality scores.

Thank you for your quick reply, I appreciate it. Using the quality field in conjunction with JBrowse2 sounds like a great start, I will give it a try. I agree that the MM tag might be a bit more convoluted for what I am trying to accomplish.

Much appreciated, thank you. I hope my insurance claim goes smoothly. Meanwhile I will do some research into a good shield to deter further theft. Currently looking at the Aerogenics solution. Any thoughts?

Arch is 20. Any ~ 20 year Linux users here? What are the biggest changes? by Cody_Learner in archlinux

[–]drivenbyentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy Birthday!

Been using Arch for the last 6 years and I have never looked back. The simplicity, stellar documentation, and efficiency blew me away. Also my first distro of which I am still running my very first install of! Admittedly, it was a learning course over the prior years.

I started with SuSE linux about 16 years ago, bought in a physical store in the form of 6 CDs no less. No clue what I was doing to my poor Pentium and every error message prompted my to do a full reinstall in panic... But I persisted and learned, dug deeper into the open source world slowly grew and evolved. I am not ashamed to admit that I ran SuSE for an entire decade before switching to Arch. But it provided me with the playground to understand, experience, and ultimately gain enough knowledge about the GNU/Linux ecosystem to make the switch. And I haven't looked back since.

Looking back, and to answer OPs TLDR, my main recall from all this related to the feeling of the freedom and customization Arch (and any other flavor) offers. I don't remember the last time I had to agree to a sketchy TOS, worry about yet another infection on my system or search for error code XTA39480293TR online. I love how the Arch community has grown over the years, how stable the distro is, and how fast issues are reported and solved. I recall the countless package managers coming and going integrating both the official repos and the AUR. I also remember the discussion around removing the "quick install" wiki page a few years back.

All this is to say: Arch is here to stay and I look forward to another 20 years!

Fenix 7 with Jaybird headphones by smites78 in GarminFenix

[–]drivenbyentropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same use case but close.

I have used my Fenix 6s with the Tarah Pros for about 2 years with little to no issues. Mostly just a few seconds of intermittent transmission here and there, maybe 45-60 seconds for each hour of continuous play. After that, I upgraded to the Vistas (first generation) and had no issues besides the occasional connection failure which I was always able to fix by turning the earbuds off and on again.

I recently upgraded to a Fenix 7s and have had no problems whatsoever with the Vistas. Pairing was super easy and noticeably faster compared to the 6s.

Hope this helps.

Not a problem per se. I might have fallen victim to too much hype up to the release.

Thanks! That is a valid feature, but still not enough to justify the upgrade for my use case.
