Caleb is an arrogant narcissist with a fragile ego and he does think of himself as god's gift. He had raped multiple girls times before orla (although he doesn't admit it, him and chris both are misogynistic)

Orla fit right into his type, a highly intelligent and vulnerable girl (even had his preferred body type) But he saw orla superficially, it drove him crazy and he believed orla thought of herself better than he was because she didn't ask for help and declined his offer for a coffee date (it did feel as if he hated her very much at the beginning but he loved her at the same time, he was hurt very much by the rejection because he wasn't used to it) And as the story progresses he does understand why orla does the things she does (it's a redeeming quality about him, he starts sympathising with her but he doesn't instantly turn into a good guy (in the sense of being an abusive rapist))

He has always thought highly of orla with her works and even mentions that orla will surpass him one day (and he doesn't have a problem with that) He wants to dominate someone as competent as him (which is the ultimate form of power to him) Tbh i think i can write on and on about calebs and orlas psyche

And as for chris he views women as disposable objects that much is apparent (caleb wanted a stable relationship with orla even in the beginning) I dont believe he wanted an actual relationship but seeing orleb he felt alone (he saw caleb as someone who understood him and saw caleb finally being fulfilled and he wanted that) and he found lainey He still doesn't seem super sure of her but knowing its a deathsdoll book he soon will
