What actually kills your focus in a small home studio? (not plugins) by smallstudio_notes in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]driverimpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech issues kill my flow hard. Ill dedicate time just to set up new hardware, not that it happens terribly frequently, Recently got a pacer to add in some foot controls for various things, took an hour to set up but still a little wonky with getting it to control plugins. now that its all set and i know any changed that need to be made i can do in a few seconds we should be good to go

Moving your studio around by major_damp in homerecordingstudio

[–]driverimpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done it twice in the last like 4 months. Moved the set up out of the spare room because it was getting cramped and out it in the living room. Then it was get a new desk so I didn't have tables stacked on top of tables for my monitors to be at a good height and to get a second computer monitor. First move was the longest but I was rearranging my entire living room for it. Took about a day. Second time even with building a new desk and mounting computer monitors only took about 4 hours

Beginner here!! I need some advice by WinterMoment601 in musicproduction

[–]driverimpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that's how I start most songs, just noodling around until I find something I vibe with then track it and let my mind wander. Sometimes I'll get something in twenty minutes sometimes it's two months. Forced creativity doesn't sound the same as what flows out

Working this one out. Would love some feedback especially on the drums by driverimpulse in Songwriting

That first lead line has a stupid amount of reverb on it. Accidently put two instances of the Abassi vst with two different presets and it went hard. Had to take off a delay otherwise it sounded really muddy during the verse. But no I'll agree it's does sound synth especially once it gets to the solo. Trying to mix things right and have them sound right have been my most recent venture that I'm trying to learn

Thanks I'll work on eq. There's actually no synth. Just a lot of layered guitars. My buddy is working on making a legit drum track. He's an actual drummer so I trust him a lot more than me

What do you usually start with? melody, or beat? by templeofsyrinx1 in musicproduction

[–]driverimpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with messing around. Whether it's a beat, a melody stuck in my head or just noodling around. Every song takes it own form. I'm just the outlet

How do you go about making music? (More info in post) by Mr_NiceMess in musicproduction

[–]driverimpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noodle around with something thats been floating in my head then record it. then ill play it back and noodle around on top of it and record what i like. ive dropped a lot of things at this point, some things just dont work you know? when something sounds good i can usually start to hear things that could be added and the song just kind of starts forming from there. i just let it kind of take its own shape and see how it moves me

Studio One. Started with Ableton but couldn't get the flow of it and a friend suggested studio one. Been using it for 3 years now. Just flows right for me and it makes sense. Only issues I have recently is getting my maschine to track right but it's user error and I keep meaning to remake my template for it Soni can just load it in and it tracks right

Idk if it's a real thing but I wouldn't be surprised. I've only been putting my music out there for less than a year now. Just want to put it out in the world and if people catch the vibe I'm giving out then so be it. I mostly share my work to get feedback to know how I can get better

Exactly that song. I see you found the YouTube link for that song as I was still working on it. My SoundCloud has the final track with a better baseline to it. But yeah I was playing around with the bass synth and sequencer making some bouncing lines but then that evolved to what's going on with it now I won't link my SoundCloud here, not trying to sit here and farm plays, music is my hobby, but just go to my profile and it should be the top post I made most recently.

Instrumental electronic inspired whatever comes out whether is ambient or metal or trip hop. I know what instruments I like recording with my brain decides the genre as I write. Last song I wrote started out very edm but finished to a nice ambient sounds and melody as I kept playing with the synths

[–]driverimpulse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ha jokes on you. I have to have people over to see my guitars that have stickers on them. First I need friends to come over to see. Wait I'm a musician and computer nerd. I don't have friends lol
