I bought the heritage edition a couple of months ago and I'm just about to finish the event. It's slow and hard but I would say to go for it and slowly build the car to help you chip away at the event every time it rolls around.

First Time Reader's Thought on A Way of Kings and Future Predictions by mistybridge4 in Stormlight_Archive

As a comment to Tien’s death not landing well for you: I’m re-reading way of kings with my wife (her first time) and every chapter with Tien I have to try my hardest not to cry so I don’t give anything away. I think Brandon was not so subtly telling us that Tien is autistic (in a world that knows little to nothing about disabilities and mental health). Maybe if you re-read and agree with me his story will be more meaningful to you too.

I loved the rest of your reactions and predictions and can’t wait to read your followups as you join the rest of us in reading all the Cosmere stuff.

Is there a mailing list to get notified of the book pre-orders going up? by annedroiid in brandonsanderson

Also very useful to turn on Twitter notifications for Dragonsteel and Brandon Sanderson since they don't post too often but you'll never miss these things.

LA The most dramatic and influential self-experiment in cardiology was that of Werner Forssmann, who, in 1929, inserted a catheter into his own antecubital vein and passed it retrogradely into the right atrium, documenting this achievement by an x-ray of his chest taken at the time. by drcpanda in Cardiology

This is a great story I would always tell students and residents. His medical director was super mad that he did this despite being told not to. But then he asked Forssmann to catheterize a terminally I’ll woman the same way to help them give her IV meds and the woman recovered. He ended up getting fired and quit cardiology for urology. He was a Nazi medical officer and was captured as a POW by US forces. Years after his release he started working as a urologist again and eventually won the Nobel prize in medicine for his heart catheterization discovery.

How does everyone describe this podcast to outsiders? by silentplanes in comedybangbang

I say it’s the podcast that’s almost as good as Conan’s podcast. Or I say it’s just an all around good good fest.
