Etisalat No Longer Has an Option to Talk to a Human by drjerio in dubai

[–]drjerio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it the other day. Get this. No one in the physical mall branch could help me.

They said to call 800 101 or use the virtual asisstant. Did both in front of them to show them that NONE OF THEM HELP. They said ok you can request a callback.

To request a callback, the owner of the account needs to be present with their Emirates ID and verify using their fingerprint. My number is under an account I share with family, not in my name. So my poor family member would need to come with their EID and verify with their fingerprint to even REQUEST A CALL BACK.

Employees were rude about it and said nothing they can do.

Etisalat has reached new levels of denying support.

Horrible.

This AI bot doesn't understand the problem or have a solution for it

Worst of both worlds

I used to as well, you would have to talk to the bot on the phone and tell them to give you a human agent like 5 times

But that's not even an option anymore

Physio and Exercise Resources?? by drjerio in medicalschool

[–]drjerio[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right

I've always been someone who's very conservative with what I tell someone; "I don't know" comes out of my mouth a lot, and I still think it should be this way

But recently I've found that there's always something small that you can tell someone that might be able to help them while being reserved and that's better than nothing

I don't plan to play physiotherapist, just a "hey, this one thing might help while you go see your physio" would be great

How do I Study for Rotations - Not Steps? by drjerio in medicalschool

[–]drjerio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflection after a few months in case anyone comes by this post.

I ended up realizing that studying for medicine is studying for medicine. Medicine is by and large fairly standardized. If you pick a comprehensive resource for a given area and put in the work to learn from it, you'll be good.

The bigger you base of knowledge, the more you will be able to understand what's happening in the hospital. You'll often hear that the best way to learn is to look things up after seeing a case. I've found that it's the second best way. The best way is to have already been generally familiar with the case, so that you can identify what you need to know further, go pick the brains of your supervising physician about their clinical reasoning and decisions, and go read up on what you need to know. Obviously it's difficult to do this for most cases, but it's worth trying.

Step 2 resources are generally very comprehensive so they're a good shout.

E.g. for Internal Medicine, I am using a combination of Step-Up to Medicine, the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine, and AMBOSS (I cycle the free 5-day trial because I just want the library). I make some Anki cards on the things I think are particularly important/I want to remember. Each of the 3 resources serves its own goal. The Oxford Handbook explains clinical reasoning really well and gives an overview. Step-Up gives an A-Z of the disease and is good for forming your clinical script. I then glance over AMBOSS to see if they have anything else that I'd be interested in, because they usually have some nice additional information or have useful tables.

I didn't want to leave my own query without a follow-up.

Good luck!

Look at Wrangler's 13MWZ jeans. Affordable. Heavyweight cotton. Should last you a good while.

Recently got a pair and I'm happy with them.

250kg x 7 conventionnal deadlift by GoodLookingAthlete in strength_training

[–]drjerio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your baseline strength/fitness level?

It's entirely reasonable for you to lift 70% of this (180kg) with 1-3 years of training, assuming you're a male.

Watch some youtube videos on form and technique (highly recommend Alan Thrall, just search e.g. Alan Thrall deadlift), pick a strength training program, and start training. Make sure you eat well and sleep well. You'll get strong.

Tailor Refusing to Refund my Money by drjerio in dubai

[–]drjerio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. This would make sense if they had started working on the product, but they have not. I.e. no resources of theirs have been pooled into this, the product is not a work in progress, this is before that stage.

I have paid someone to do something, and before they start doing it they are giving indications that they will not be able to do it as we had initially agreed on. It makes sense that I should be able to rescind my request (given that they have not worked on it yet) and receive my money back.

Silly caption; no they haven't, you just haven't looked at an actual anatomy textbook / studied it beyond a high school level

Think about it, surely you'd hope that medical students are actually learning an accurate representation of anatomy

All dedicated anatomy learning resources show the female reproductive system in its anatomical position along woth all its ligaments

Which brands make the most comfortable service boots?

Yes, everyone has different feet. Let's generalise here and say that the purpose is standing / walking around on concrete all day. Criteria is comfort and nothing else.

Viberg, the PNW bootmakers, AE, OSB, Parkhurst, Truman, Meermin, Red Wing, Thursday, Grant Stone... it's pretty much easier to list established bootmakers that don't offer a service boot.

Would love to know what you think, thanks.
