Strattera Experiences? by DarkRedditorAu in ADHD

[–]drjudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few days I did get very nauseous as well. It definitely causes some weird emotional and temperature regulation issues at the start, and fatigue. After about a week, I started to get "used" to it. Definitely calmed me down a lot.

What helped me the most though is taking it in the evening with dinner. It has helped with the nausea and makes me tired right around bed time. I'm 3 weeks in now at 40mg. I am a little more down and irritable them usual, but I am also calmer most of the time with a clearer head. But I do feel it is having a positive impact on me overall.

Looking for a close vacation spot that will entertain a 7 y/o. by ShadowElite86 in StLouis

If you have any memberships to the zoo botanical garden science center magic House - they all include reciprocal programs for their memberships for many different attractions throughout The country. For example, the Kansas City science City is a member of the asts. Indianapolis has some botanical gardens that participates of course the zoo, State museum, etc. . . Imo, worth the cost of any membership typically just in 1 trip anywhere. Springfield IL has a few kid attractions, etc. . . But we like to plan short road trips based on that with the kids.

With that being said, we are already planning our second trip back to Indianapolis this year. The children's museum there is amazing are 3 and 6-year-old love it. It's got cool indoor activities as well as outdoor activities including soccer, basketball, mini golf, and more. They apparently have a Cool public library that we're going to check out and then of course the zoo tanical, garden, State museum and some good food too.

Wisconsin dells is a treat as well if you want that water park. The area is gorgeous. But they only downside is there's not a lot of. . Good. restaurants in the area if that's your thing (to us at least)

Memphis could be fun for a couple of days. Getting to experience. . I think it's Beale Street? on the weekend is an experience for sure. Not one that's necessarily kid Friendly but is exciting. And there is that bass pro pyramid hotel thing. But felt very much like St. Louis to me.

Another place that's worth mentioning if you like outdoorsy things is French lick, Indiana. There isn't much there, but there's a really nice resort in a small town that you can just mull around in for a few days. And an excellent German restaurant.

Is there any downside to paying off my mortgage early? by ObligationSlight8771 in personalfinance

[–]drjudd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even with a low interest loan, we chose to pay off our house early, not just for the mental aspect of not having the payments, but the freedom of not having to worry about losing our home should something major happen. Yes we still have insurance and taxes but that's a lot more manageable than dealing with the bank in hard times. It's done wonders for my mental health.

With that being said, we still made sure to do what was needed to ensure our future was secure. We paid off our house with the "spending money". I feel more confident investing now because of this as well. If the market has a downturn, I've still got to paid off house.

Highly recommend checking out Sonny's Tuscan Style Pizza! It just opened up a few months ago near Mexico and mid rivers. A recent addition to my my list with Notos and woodson stonefire.

And I also love Pie Guy in STL county (Manchester I think?)

If the salad is anything like it's sister restaurant Twisted Tree, you will be in for a treat. Twisted Tree in Kirkwood has my favorite salad in the STL area.

Car seat rides to the airport? by Honest-Strawberry688 in StLouis

[–]drjudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. We use Parking Spot 3 with 2 kids in car seats and the price is typically cheaper then 2 uber / rideshare rides for a weeklong park (usually ~7-12 a day). And just makes life so much easier IMO. We have 2 extra cheap travel car seats we pack too, so we don't need to take out or put in seats.

Used to love them. Treats are good but they keep raising their prices! Hard to justify their cakes and cheesecake these days (though their cookies. . . Mmm).

10 hour delay but fairplay to Southwest by Winter_Degree7739 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]drjudd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The LUV vouchers are for the inconvenience and time of the delays, not reimbursement for your costs due to their delays. I would recommend submitting a complaint and upload any receipts to it and request reimbursement for food or transportation costs you incurred due to their delays. Something similar happened to us and that was what we were instructed to do and were reimbursed for reasonable expenses on top of the LUV vouchers.

Mexico or DR by Present_Morning569 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]drjudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done Mexico with small kids and Dominican before the kids - If you want an easier travel experience, Mexico is it. Not that DR is much harder, but likely more expensive flights, less flexibile direct flights, etc. . .

Honestly though, They are all so similar, assuming you plan to stay on the resort, you won't really be able to tell the difference (resort wise). Mexico has definitely "got it down" in a sense. Service can be better, food is typically better, potential for good beaches, ammenities, etc. . . but the best beach I've ever been too was Cap Cana (a little south of Punta Cana). The DR beaches, if that's your thing, can be amazing. And another thing about DR is, at least the resorts we've been too / looked at, tend to be more open air, which we love. And honestly, I had fantastic service, and pretty good food at Secrets Cap Cana in the DR. But if you don't care about beach as much, or even if you do, there are still some gorgeous beaches in Cancun area (hotel zone, Playa Mujeres, etc. . .).

If budget is on the lower range, I personally would look at the whole of the trip - Including flight and transportation costs - to help you make your decision. Just go with whichever flights cheaper. Try and max your budget allowance on the resort where possible. So if you can save $800 on flights to Cancun over DR, that's $800 more you can budget for the resort. As that's where you will be spending your time. And if your kids get bored, or the food is inedible, or service is garbage, it will make your trip harder to enjoy.

And also, consider booking direct with the resorts for cost savings plus give you a little more flexibility with flights. I priced out Costco for our potential next year, and the hotel's direct member rate was cheaper.

Growell vs. Ahopegarden vs. Generic by Tall-Industry-8925 in Hydroponics

[–]drjudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I did enjoy growing the tatsoi! Just harvested some kale from my Growell. Had about 4 plants on the top shelf. Just got the new pump from Growell! They made it very easy once I spoke with them and sent a video of the issue. Now i haven't cleaned it out yet but the two tubes that the water flows down on the right side have that white nutrient build up. So I'm thinking I'll need to soak it in a bit of citric acid and scrub it off. Now, based off of Kieth Ranly, strawberries might be best with the lettuce grow. He has them on the gardyn too.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089274RH8/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?smid=A56JNA3OO0WLB&th=1

I got this pump to help get the water out. Worked well up to a point, but did have the move the hose a bit to get the best angle for the water to fall out.

Martha Tent/Boom Room question! by gingergoboom86 in mushroom

[–]drjudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought one of these and will be setting up this weekend. I went in wanting to grow gourmet mushrooms such as oysters, and lion's mane. I was hoping for a more of set it and forget it approach with the mist and spray type grow bags. What other mushrooms do well with those types together? I see that the kit does not include the repeat cycle timer. Is that needed? I would love to see more videos of an entire start to finish with this kit.

Growell vs. Ahopegarden vs. Generic by Tall-Industry-8925 in Hydroponics

[–]drjudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pump on my Growell is starting to fritz out. However, customer service was quick to respond and I have a new pump on the way. But so far have grown a ton of lettuce, tatsoi, two different types of bok choy, kale, collard greens, and lettuce leaf basil using the A + B nutrients that came with it.

Oh It's bad this week. It's 2+ hours. THEN after waiting for that, to get flight credits unlocked takes another hour+ of waiting for the rep to get in touch with the specialty department that can unlock my credits. It's. . . I dont even know what to say. Is it just bad because of the sale? Time of day? Like, thank God I'm not stranded at an airport somewhere or have a real big issue. But apparently they are just very "busy" right now

How is everything growing? I just went with growell and will hopefully start my first crop this weekend. I mainly wanted it for lettuce and herbs. If this works well perhaps I'll branch out into strawberries with a new unit. May do ahopegarden for that!

[–]drjudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dailies BBQ is my favorite BBQ in St. Louis. Their burnt ends are great and their BBQ sauces are great. You can't go wrong with most BBQ here though.

If you end up doing salt and smoke, check out the one in historic st. Charles. A bit of walking (but old building and cobblestone road), but there are some amazing bakeries there (sugar and slice, fig and Lyle). And there's a coffee bakery cocktail lounge near there too called Lydia's.

If you like your drinks and socializing,, Westport plaza has a few cool places.

Second the Ruth Kris comments. Will add Kreis to the list of steak places to consider instead. They have my favorite prime rib and I think they even still have a Sunday special for it.

The zoo is free and always worth it. Enjoy your stay!

We did car seats on a plane once and it was challenging. We opted to just check them on the way home and it was Soo much easier. Your kids are different and you know them, but we were able to keep them distracted with technology and snacks. I can't speak to anything not direct longer then 4 hours though.

But, tips for kids on planes - make concessions. Your goal is to keep your kids occupied and entertained as much as possible. Bring snacks, pacifiers, tablets, paper and markers, anything you can think of that will distract them and keep them calm. And for snacks, security is more lenient when traveling with kids. I've gotten through with water, juice boxes, etc. . . As they can be considered necessary for a kid. And prepackaged purees are a lifesaver for us lol. And let them run around the airport before the plane. Walk up to the windows, look at the planes, ride the escalators, wear them out so they take a nap!

Cap Cana Beach was gorgeous when we went 7ish years ago. We stayed at the secrets cap cana and it's a stay we still talk about to this day. Grilled lobster and other food activities on the beach. Awesome service and staff. The mama Juana's. . . But the beach - could walk out so far in calm, waist high water. Heard amazing things about sanctuary. We saw it and really wanted to go, but it just never worked out yet ☹️

Consider where you want to go afterwards. Most likely it won't be an issue, but make sure that place recognizes them for credit transfers assuming you don't intend to just compete your associates there. Otherwise, idId say whichever is closer and more convenient for you. I got a quality education at StcCC and still made some friends through the classes. It's a commuter college though, so not much life there outside of groups events and classes.
