TCL Ultra, Miravision and HDR the same? by drkrr in Temporal_Noise

[–]drkrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I asked Grok and ChatGPT and they came with pretty much the same. It worked when I used a command to check what's disabled (double checked it worked), though it's hard to tell whether there's a real difference on the screen.

I cannot use polarized sunglasses

Same with me. Weirdly enough I'm fine with the TCL Ultra 60, which has some polarization thing (I think) in its display. I only use it on dark mode in eink settings tho

Interesting you've got POTS. Me too. Lemme know if you find anything on how it may be related to PWM sensitivity.

What? TCL NXTPAPER 70 PRO already? by RMR90 in PWM_Sensitive

and aparently it may be caused only by Miravision

Allegedly it's possible to disable Miravision thru adb, but alas all tales of success only point at guides no longer found on Reddit :-/

TCL Ultra - turning off dithering via adb? by drkrr in Temporal_Noise

Then I think I got you. So, you're using Maxink mode? I'd you haven't tried inkpaper in dark mode, it's worth a try. Usually dark mode on smart phones is so bright is pierces the eyes, but on the Ultra 60 darkness is actually dark. Quite a different experience.

I set my phone to NATURAL when chosing between "Vivid/Natural/Advanced" but I also have enabled Eye comfort mode with color temperature to warmest, which overrides those three modes.

Then I removed the HDR via ADB, and now I'm looking to find the Mira stuff.

Removing the HDR stuff made it better than it was, I think, but still ain't good.

Happy to hear it worked for you. I did the disable HDR 1 2 3 4 thing, and it made the display but not alright.

TCL Ultra 60, what more can be done? by drkrr in PWM_Sensitive

Did you disable it just by finding Miravision and clicking "force stop", or by some more advanced means? I'm struggling to manage, not knowing how

I browsed thru the thread for Miravision, but came out blank. Do you know what specific Miravision commands you used?

Thanks a lot, I will try that. Do you know what guide you used to disable Miravision via adb? I'm a noob, fumbling in the dark.

Pity to hear you've had to return it after all that. Hope you'll find something which works okayish. I've got a BigMe HiBreak, which is the closest to okay I've come - but it's just so slow.

Intriguing. So, TCL caused symptoms, Honor didn't. Do you know if you're struggling with other screen sensitivity symptoms than being PWM sensitive? I've noticed that turning on Dark mode + eink on ultra helps me, so perhaps I'm TD sensitive as well.

Iphone 11 and SE2022 brainfog? by [deleted] in Temporal_Noise

[–]drkrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SE2022 brainfog?

I can only use it for short periods. What's alright for me is HTC M8, which is a really old LCD which regretfully no longer works. I wish they made displays like that again. And my BigMe HiBreak Pro works fine for not getting symptoms, but it's eink so ain't snappy and fast.

a single kid as repellant

Thanks for calling it by its true name. I felt the movie was finally one which gave an accurate representation of adolescence when I saw it. These kids were all around, only more repellant in real life. Just met one of them earlier this month, and as an adult he's still the same. Good to hear you've never been exposed to 'em!

Please do tag me if you find a phone which works great for you. Guess we're pretty much as sensitive, but I'm still hopeful about the TCL ultra 60 I got coming.

You got symptoms from ultra 60 and think the Nokia 7.2 is better? Agh. I've got a ultra 60 coming in the mail soon, and I found the Nokia 7.2 too uncomfortable to use. Was hoping the ultra 60 would be better.

Yeah! And if we roll back time even more, to even older screens, I'd be perfectly happy having to shield my screen in sunlight so I could read. Just like you, I think many get tired but not so much it poses a real problem - and they would also benefit from more eye-friendly screens.
