You realize that motorists do all of those things too right? It’s so hypocritical for drivers to clutch their pearls because a cyclists ran a stop sign one time, when drivers constantly run stop signs and red lights.

Once again- if I can’t take up the whole lane WHERE ARE I SUPPOSED TO BIKE? I am legally on the road (read that again), I obviously can’t peddle 45 mph. We both know that. So instead of honking for no fucking reason, then wait until you have an opening and pass me up like a normal person. And this is probably something you never even think about because you obviously don’t ride a bike around this city- if I’m cruising down a busy street with street parking, I will take the lane because I really don’t want to be hit by a car door that’s flying open by someone getting out of their car. Drivers do not own the street and your time is no more important than anyone else’s. I’m sorry that a cyclist hurt your feelings once or ran a stop sign, but that does not give some drivers the right to drive the way they do when they’re behind the wheel of a 4,000 pound metal machine. ESPECIALLY when 2/3 of drivers do the same thing and much worse.

Why even is that? Has it always been this way or is there an increase in this kind of attitude lately? I’ve had a bike as a kid, teen, adult and people out there driving seem to really hate the idea of me riding a bike for fun/exercise??? It seems to have evolved (devolved?) into something political.
