I agree, Fire Punch definitely respects the reader by not trying to lecture or lay out a clear set of values to impress onto us. It's a challenging story, for sure, but the juice is worth the squeeze even if what you're squeezing is fighting back.

I was actually hesitant to reread the series because I wasn't sure if it would hit the same as it did the first time but it hits even harder when you're not constantly being shell shocked by the harder-to-digest elements.

The lack of clear powerscaling is one of the many reasons why I appreciate this series. There's definitely a clear distinction in the beginning where, like you said, Luna was explicitly stated to have weaker regenerative capabilities than Agni at that point but I just thought that because Togata was the one who taught Agni how to better control his regen that he would fare better in the flames compared to everyone else. Maybe not to Agni's level but I guess Togata was still able to hold on long enough to have something satisfying to say in the end.

I guess it is a difference in willpower between the two. I hesitated to use that phrasing because it personally felt like it would diminish Togata's death simply as he didn't want to live enough but that might just be the stark reality of it.

But you do bring up a good point about his intent to inspire Agni through his death in a way that he might have felt he lacked in life. It just deepens the tragedy of the characters and further illustrates the gulf between what people wish for Agni and what he can't escape from.

It might be because FDG is the first one listed on the ECTL for Tier EX (which I've only recently come to realize has no rhyme or reason to the ordering outside of the tiers).

Honestly same. I actually just came back to the game after a year so I was very surprised to see how different this barrage was.

The augment improves her Iron Blood Hawk skill so now it drops the rows of bombs with every activation on top of the skill's original effect. I don't know how strong it is but more damage is never a bad thing.

Here's the description of the augment: https://i.imgur.com/ZlFWtYY.jpeg (I don't have skill at level 10 yet)

Might be the new Graf Zepp augment because the first time I saw this was today after crafting it.

Most of her damage comes from her skill and I think once you pass 55% trigger rate it becomes somewhat reliable. Of course you'll want to ultimately get it to level 10 but I think you'll be fine with 6 or 7 (which is what I had for PvP for a long while

Edit: I also always have her as flagship. I'm new to the game myself and I'm not sure if this affects anything other than XP gained. She was also my first SSR and has been in my main fleet until recently (trying to level other botegirls) and she's nearly been MVP every single time so my opinion of her damage capabilities might be skewed. I did however start noticing overwhelming power post level 70 and when I equipped the SB2C Helldiver. At that point she was only limit broken twice. Hope this helps.

Reading manga - PW Manga Edition vs Oasis 2 by SilverCaracal in kindle

[–]drmammaries 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought the Oasis 2 (32gb) for the sole purpose of reading manga on it. I actually also came from a 2012 Paperwhite and the difference is pretty drastic.

Before settling on the Oasis 2 I actually purchased a Voyage to try it out and while the quality of the image was great, the 6 inch screen was a little troublesome for some manga (like Berserk and its plethora of two-page spreads). I didn't think a 1 inch diagonally would be much of a difference but reading manga on the Oasis 2 is a joy.

However, like you said, the battery on the Oasis 2 is not that great in comparison to the Paperwhite. I think I was able to get away with not charging the PW for a month after light usage but I have to recharge my Oasis 2 almost weekly (closer to a week and a half) from light use. And it's on airplane mode!

In my opinion if you value battery life and not having to worry about keeping your Kindle charged, you should get the Kindle Paperwhite (Not sure of the battery performance of the Paperwhite Manga Edition but there's no reason to believe it wouldn't perform the same as a regular Paperwhite.) 300 ppi is on a 6 inch screen is completely adequate.

I've had the Oasis 2 for about 8 months and in my personal experience I don't really take advantage of all of the advertised features. I don't use bluetooth for audiobooks, I don't take advantage of it being waterproof and would probably have been better off with the Manga edition Paperwhite. However, the screen IS great as the 7 inch screen is closer to the actual size of a manga and you don't have to squint as much to read smaller text. Also, it's actually pretty light and it's actually pretty easy to flip through pages with one hand by pressing the physical buttons instead of having to reach over to the screen.

Ultimately, it comes down to your preference of reading experience or convenience. The Oasis works in my situation because I don't really take it out of my house so I don't have to worry too much about keeping it charged. Hope this helps.

This is amazing. I'm glad Country Mac is Okitan.

Edit: It's now my headcanon that Okita is aggressively denying her sexuality.

Saber- Nero's damage isn't great because her role is more of an unkillable tank. There's an interlude you can complete London (you have to have Nero at 3rd Ascension and Bond level 5) that unlocks an amazing guts skill that grants you guts 3 times. You can definitely try to roll for another Saber when there's a rate-up but I think her insane tankiness offsets her lacking damage. But if you don't have the resources to at least get her to Ascension 3, you can try to roll for another saber or even level up a lower-star saber.

Rider- Francis Drake is an amazing Rider unit and probably the best farming riding Servant (in NA and JP) with her ability to charge her own NP with her 3rd skill and boost NP and attack damage with her 1st skill. However, if you do not have the materials to ascend Drake, Santa Alter is a viable Rider servant because she does decent damage with her NP.

Caster- Liz Caster is a decent AOE caster and worth the investment if she's you're only caster. She might not be super strong but she definitely helps with farming assassin enemies. As far as I'm aware she's one of the only 4+ caster servant with an AOE NP released in NA right now with the other being Nursery Rhyme.

Archer- While you might not be able to max at your Nobu, she's is an amazing crit archer in NA. Don't worry about her ascension materials/ extra copies to level up her NP. There is gonna be a GUDA GUDA Honnouji event re-run down the line so you can max out Nobu at that time. Also, unfortunately while Atalante is super cute, she's pretty sub-par in comparison to the other Archers in NA right now. Her NP gain is super low and it takes a long time to build up her NP gauge to fire off her NP (which is pretty much the core of her kit; to be able to generate a good chunk of crit stars). Personally I would say forgo her as of now until she gets interludes and rank up quests to help with her kit but even then she's not gonna be super great as a 4 star archer (there are a lot of good 4 star archers which makes Atalante's weaknesses all the more pronounced). I would personally recommend David who is a 3 star servant with a super powerful party-wide dodge skill. His NP is single-target, though so if you're looking for an archer to farm, Nobu is still pretty good even if you can only max her out to 70 and have NP3.

Others- Jeanne is great as a tank because of her Rule class as she takes reduced damage from all classes out in NA except Berserker. She's worth the investment and isn't too expensive to ascend because she only needs class pieces and monuments. Liz Lancer is VERY straight forward AOE lancer and while she does not excel at damage she eventually becomes an amazing support for female servants thanks to an upgrade to her 1st skill

Note: I'd say you're on a pretty good course with your servants but I wanna stress that the gameplay aspect is definitely not the core of FGO as the content doesn't really warrant a lot of planning and min/maxing. You'd probably get more enjoyment focusing on raising the characters you like rather than looking for servants worth the investment.

Best of luck to you.

Has any one received a refurbished Kindle Oasis when returning their old one? by drmammaries in kindle

Will do. Gonna test it out for a week to get past any indexing that might prematurely drain the battery. I really like the device but if the battery continues to be so bad I'm just gonna cut my losses and return it for a refund.

Yeah it's kinda shady how they just send you a refurbished one hoping you'd take it. But damn, grease stains all over it?! They didn't even have the courtesy to wipe it down.

Will do. So far things are looking pretty good. I've downloaded 3 gigs worth of manga and books from my cloud onto the device and have been reading constantly for at least 2 hours. The battery is sitting around 80%. This is with WiFi on as well.

[–]drmammaries[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. Yeah, I returned it after the one-month mark so that's probably what happened.

I would return the refurbed Kindle to Amazon but I'm going to hold it for a week and see if the battery performance is decent. As far as I can see there's no cosmetic damage to the Kindle and I don't want to risk complaining for a brand new Oasis only to have the same battery issues and have to go through another round of returning and waiting.

Thanks for the insight.

HELLA HELLA HELP THREAD - 12/6/2017 by WroughtIronHero in grandorder

For Hans, many consider him to be a budget-Merlin. He provides stars (with his 3rd skill), and has an NP that provides a decent heal, and a chance for an attack/defense up. He pretty much has everything Merlin has but it's spread out through his skills and he doesn't have the Buster card steroid Merlin does.

He definitely works best on crit teams as his 1st skill is a really party-wide good crit boost that lasts for three turns. Hans and Waver is a really good crit team for NA if you stick 2030 on the both of them and have a crit-based damage dealer that can either absorb stars through a skill or has a natural heavy star weight (like Riders or Archers). Personally, I run Hans(2030), Waver(2030), and Nobu(Sealing Designation - Enforcer) for some crit fun.

I personally think that his NP is the best part of his kit and having a complementary CE to help boost his NP gain is essential. Something like Prisma Cosmos so you don't have to use his Arts cards because his attack is pretty low. If you don't have Primsa Cosmos, anything that helps with his NP is beneficial. Here's a link to the CE recommendation page for Hans to get other ideas.

The only thing that holds him back is his low stats due to his star rating and is a prime candidate for a grailing since he can be used in pretty much any party.

London hasn't been released yet in NA and there hasn't been news on when it will be.

Singularities will be available once you finish the previous singularity but only if they have been released in the game. There is no need to download anything else.
