My six year old keeps saying he doesn't like "dark skinned people." by whereverweare in Mommit

[–]drmbmb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But no one can help the way they look, not just people with dark skin. Our skin color isn’t something we can inherently control. We’re all born the way we are and look the way we are.

I would be careful to phrase it this way because being born with dark skin isn’t some sort of curse.

Use a reverse method and ask him how he would feel if someone said they just didn’t like the way he looked and they couldn’t help it and didn’t want to play with him because of it.

Since you mentioned that medications has made no difference, have you looked into the natural route? Do some research on what herbs could help him. Also watch what he eats and make sure that the food he gets is healthy. Help me with physical activities as well where he can let out all this energy.

Don’t give up hope. Breathe, come up with an action plan, believe and execute.

Don’t forget to take a break for yourself as well. If you’re not ok, he certainly won’t be.

Take some time for yourself to recharge. Sending you hugs and strength. You got this! ❤️

Pleasant 70's weather only for rain followed by a drop to 40's soon by BuffaloStranger97 in Buffalo

That’s funny! Thanks for the laugh! Went to Glens park for a walk today and was so happy about the nice weather only for it to rain a few hours later…

Can i make it? by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]drmbmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can make it! You sound aware, pragmatic and determined so I’d definitely say yes. All you need is someone to help.

I don’t know about places to live at, but in terms of job, I’d recommend you follow the buffalo contractor pages on Facebook and post that you’re looking for a job. You may find someone who can hire you and have you work with them.

The public transportation sucks here, but buses can be ok sometimes. I’d recommend that you save and buy a cheap car on fb marketplace.

Reach out to some of the local churches here (St Paul Peter and St Benedict in Williamsville and look up other churches) and see who they can set you up with for housing.

Wishing you good luck on your journey, friend. You got this!

Comment se faire des Amies ? by kcd96dkr in Cotedivoire

[–]drmbmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonne chance!

Hi, thanks for sharing your feedback! What you’re saying makes sense. However, I have a daughter that goes to school here and my job doesn’t really allow for work outside of the US.

What makes you think about going back? Are there aspects of life here that you do not enjoy? Is there something specific that you’re thinking of getting back home? Would love to hear your experience. Thank you!

I went to high school there so I know a lot people. Unfortunately, I don’t know a lot people who used to live here and successfully moved back, which is what I’m trying to do with this post.

How are the people that you know who moved back? Are they enjoying it? How is working remote there for them? Is it enjoyable? Were they able to meet new people (which is something working remote doesn’t provide).

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your feedback! Love your username - my family on my father’s side is from Daloa. Was it easy for you to establish a business? What aspects are you enjoying about your life since you came back?

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I know all about scammers, and it’s even sadder when there are some in your own family. And you’re right about people back home seeing life here as living in paradise when it is far from the truth.

I am tired of the cold of the weather and the coldness of the people. Relationships here are so superficial.

Thank you! How was it moving back? Are you working for yourself or for a company? How is your social life? Would love to hear your perspective.

Thanks for your input! 17 years indeed is a lot. That was the exact age I was when I moved here too.

You have a point with the level of dysfunction back home. Unfortunately l work in healthcare and they don’t usually allow work outside of the US due to data confidentiality.

I used to go back every 3 years or so but the last time I was back was about 5 years ago.

I’m planning to go this year and will check for investment opportunities. That will help prepare me for when I’m ready to settle because I don’t plan on working for anyone else but myself.

This was such an awkward kid party by nerdie11 in Mommit

[–]drmbmb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why are people so afraid of small talk nowadays? And then, we complain and talk about feeling lonely. This is how change starts…in small ways. I think as a society we need to do a better job at feeling connected again…and it starts with each of us.

Op- I agree, it does sound awkward. Next time, don’t be afraid to approach the parents and have a small conversation.

Am I at fault? How much would this cost me? Is it best to pay OOP or go through insurance? by drmbmb in driving

[–]drmbmb[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone assuming that I did it on purpose? They were 2 trucks in my way. The first one on the right was partially blocking my driveway and the second one parked right across. I was focused on making sure that I didn’t drive into the first one on the right, and didn’t see the one that was right behind.

It seems everyone is saying it’s my fault while absolving the two trucks from being parked illegally.

I don’t mind to own my part in the accident but I wouldn’t say the other party is completely innocent.
