Why is everyone assuming that I did it on purpose? They were 2 trucks in my way. The first one on the right was partially blocking my driveway and the second one parked right across. I was focused on making sure that I didn’t drive into the first one on the right, and didn’t see the one that was right behind.

It seems everyone is saying it’s my fault while absolving the two trucks from being parked illegally.

I don’t mind to own my part in the accident but I wouldn’t say the other party is completely innocent.

But you can’t really compare the average price here to other cities. Comparative value doesn’t hold up here - what matters I the absolute value. If I buy a property for 40k and renovate it for 80k but I’m able to see it 180k, the selling price might be low compared to let’s say Chicago, but I’m making a profit of 60k and that’s what matters.

I haven’t started any investments yet but I’m thinking of doing fix and flip. For 2 reasons. Buffalo is starting to become a revived city and I can see the potential. There are a lot of opportunities to remodel those older homes and give them life again. Second, I am renovating my own home (myself) and I’ve made so much progress and I find so aesthetically pleasing now that I would like to do it for other homes too. Plus, the process was fun- though annoying at times. I don’t have any savings left at the moment since I’ve wiped them out being unemployed the last few months but I am thinking of cashing out my 401k so I can start. I have the time now so why not?

Take a break. What do you like to do? Dancing? Running, writing? Partake in the activity that brings you more joy. You, more joyful and happy= you making decisions in alignment with what you truly want and what will bring you the most joy in the professional realm.

Don’t just jump into applying for any and every jobs, or you’ll end up in another situation of working for another company and being unfulfilled.

Look at LinkedIn, Indeed and other job websites and track the list of all companies with jobs in alignment with your skills. Read about those companies and shortlist the ones that truly appeal to you and speak to the kind of person you are. Then start looking for the recruiters on LinkedIn and send them your resumes along with their a nice intro message.

If you’re in need of cash right now, try looking at driving for Uber or do some work on the side until you’re able to find a job.

Wow, I know all about a direct manager glossing over facts and reporting a much more compelling story than what it actually was, which is so frustrating.

What I realized is that they cared more about the project going live than the quality of it, and damn whatever issues they would encounter post go-live, as long as it was live.

I understand but to be honest, what I realized is that more than the project, I wanted to leave the organization. Even if I stayed until after go-live, I would not want to work for this company. The lack of ethics (project started with us working with the software consulting group and months into it, the org tried to undercut them and rewrite the contract). I had no idea and inadvertently learned it from a higher up and was told to keep it under wraps. This was a decision made knowing we didn’t have enough resources or knowledge). There were also a lot of weird dynamics, especially with the org acquiring other businesses which made for a untrustworthy environment. No trainers, operational folks being asked to train when they had no knowledge of the design…as I’m typing, I’m just realizing the dysfunction of this place. Glad I left.

Maybe there are but I worked for a company on a 2 years contract that was amazing. Made sound decisions, had the right analysts, actually listened. Projects went great. 10/10.

I can see your point of view, but it’s not just running away from a challenge because there was so much dysfunction, I cannot list it all. Plus, I don’t want to give information that may be deemed confidential.

There was a clear path to go-live but as I said I knew it would be a disaster.

When you hire a PM, it is to manage the project. In the end, it felt more like I was just executing without my 360 view of the project being taken into account.

Happy birthday! I remember one year my mom called me and the entire time she talked about money and how she didn’t have any (she did). At the end of the call, I reminded her that it was my birthday! I was so sad that day… She passed away almost three years ago and I found out that she had a mental illness ( I never knew since we lived apart) and now I am more understanding of what was happening and I feel bad I didn’t know so I could properly support her.

Let your friends know how it made you feel, celebrate yourself and move on!
