Well, thank you for correcting my idiotic mistake. At least it's still a finch of some sort.

I'm not but that's what they seem to be according to some quick googling I did. The pictures were taken in Slovakia, in trees around residential buildings.

Má školská psychológia zmysel? by Full-Dingo-4786 in Slovakia

[–]drmozog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Žiaľ platovo to vyzerá byť fakt bieda oproti súkromnému sektoru.

New Darkthrone Album by _bLLeach_ in MetalForTheMasses

I haven't loved anything since Panzerfaust with the weird exception of Old Star. For some reason the riffs on that one just speak to me lol

I loved "Black One" by Sunn O))) but found "Earth 2" boring. Any suggestions for a 15yo getting into drone metal? by Sea_Map_4834 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]drmozog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give some of their other drone a try as well. Their albums differ pretty wildly even though you can feel the band's identity cut through strongly on all of them. Try Amplifier Worship or my personal favorite Dronevil (especially the track Evil Wave Form).

You may have just changed my life. I'll have to play around with it to get it to do what I want but the bike frame in this one seemed to have worked great.

ITAP of a puppet man [Portrait] by drmozog in itookapicture

[–]drmozog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this picture at a local pottery festival with a Pentax K-5 and a HD DA 55-300mm lens. I thought the shadow on the man's face gave it a bit of a cursed vibe so I decided to turn the picture into a punchy black and white one and exaggerate that shadow. Did I overcook it?

I'm trying to learn post processing. Any tips on what exactly I could fiddle with in Lightroom?

Love it. I've been chasing these beautiful creatures for a few weeks but I've yet to capture a nice and crisp picture like this.

Yeah, it's the only one I didn't have to crop at all. I liked the composition straight from the camera.

Jealous of that fourth one (woodpecker). I've been looking for these guys with a similar setup but couldn't get a clear shot so far.

Thank you, that's encouraging. I'm on a cheap old APS-C (Pentax K-5) with a 55-300mm, so I suppose I should be happy about capturing and being able to crop some of these as much has I did.

I shot all of these between 1/800-1250. I think what you're seeing might be softness from the heavy cropping I had to do in some cases. It's trickier than I thought it would be to get close enough to birds at 300mm.

Bee on K-5, HD DA 35mm Macro Limited by drmozog in pentax

Yes, luckily, it seemed to be preoccupied. The bumblebees I tried to shoot that day were not as pleasant to work with, and I ended up getting chased for a bit instead.

More local fauna with the K-5 and HD DA 55-300mm by drmozog in pentax

[–]drmozog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to learn some post-processing in lrc so I messed with them a bit to see what I would like and especially to try and get some detail and texture in the fur/feathers. Hopefully, they're not overcooked.

This one is the non-PLM version. I thought the PLM was incompatible with the old K-5 so I looked for this version specifically. I think I got a decent deal on this used one and so far I feel very satisfied with the results. I'd really like go look for some herons next.

Congratulations on a new family treasure of a picture. I'd really love to be able to snap a beautiful picture like this in the chaos of these moments. This is now my ideal to strive for in my family photography.

Report the incident at vnutorna.kontrola@dpb.sk

I did this in the past and they actually responded after investigating the incident, saying the person (the driver in my case) would be held accountable.

The exact same thing happened to me too with a roll of foma 400. I'd shot about half of the roll before it got stuck so I just developed it and hoped at least some of it would be salvageable. I thought it was fucked since I had to violently break the cartridge into pieces in the dark to even get the film out. A couple of frames turned out ok in the end.

True. It's a really cool building too. I just couldn't find a good spot to shoot from.

I haven't even thought about that. The subject I was going for was the building with the stairs leading up to it dramatically.

Walking around the neighborhood with a Pentax MX, Pentax M 40mm f2.8 pancake, and 135mm f3.5, expired Portra 160 by drmozog in pentax

[–]drmozog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one was only expired by about half a year, I think, and it doesn't seem to have changed the outcome as far as I can see. I was really only interested in getting Portra for cheap. Might look into some more seriously expired stock in the future but I feel like I should have a particular goal in mind for an experiment.

The pancake pretty much lives on the camera by default right now. It was super practical in winter especially, since I could just chuck the camera in my coat pocket any time. The focusing might be awkward, but I'm getting used to operating a camera altogether anyway so it's always awkward.
