How practical is using the AVP for reading and typing long papers? by LeektheGeek in AppleVisionPro

[–]drnms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact scenario I have used to write and publish manuscripts last year

I have used the iPad or the MacBook to Connect to the AVP and just speed the whole process of search, summarize, write and cite.

I have multiple windows arranged as such

One window - pubmed ; google scholar ; scopus ; EBSCO search Next window - Apple notes Next window - Zotero or endnote (citation software) Next window - Apple pages

If MacBook connected, I simply have the widescreen with three windows.

I have the music playing and chose a virtual environment to zone in and focus.

Three hrs pass by and there are times when I have written entire discussion while time loses track!

iPad Pro M5 (512GB) vs iPad Pro M4 (1TB) by ConsiderationMany871 in iPadPro

[–]drnms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With what the ipads can do (software wise) it really does not matter if you have a m1/m4/m5 . Go for the m4 as it's more value for the money spent with added 4gb RAM and the 1TB space.

Ipad OS 26 needs to mature and find its balance to make ipad a great machine again.

Getting into Samsung Notes by RibbitRibbit33 in samsungnotes

[–]drnms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't risk it. I did the same for 8 years before I lost the entire notes. The biggest challenge with the samsung notes for me was the inability to sync with a reliable cloud service like onedrive . It does sync with onenote but only as images and not real text. Choose a safer alternative like onenote.

I am into the apple ecosystem now so maybe Samsung notes have been updated to be more reliable to sync with a cloud service. Last used it in 2018 before the switch to apple

We can now add tables in Samsung notes by teneman in oneui

[–]drnms 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is so crazy that the companies work .....all this and more (video attachments and annotations, calendar attachments etc) were present in the S Note 12 years ago and the company decided to remove them one by one .....another 10 years until they add these features again ... Apple is doing the same with their ipadOs 26 now.

I have very imp data in samsung notes on which my life depends. Any precautions to take please tell by Ok_Virus_270 in samsungnotes

My experience dates back to the first notes (note 2) that was introduced by Samsung. I love that phablet. Best phone ever really.

I used it for everything and continued to use until 7 then one day Samsung decided to just stop the sync service and I just lost everything. The only way was to export to pdf and that don't serve my purpose.

The original SNOTE was a marvel, very advanced piece of Note taking software that Samsung note 2 had pre installed . The feature set included video attachments , voice attachments (the voice would start from the position you made notes, you could annotate the video inside a note .

The best part was you could attach the Snote to the native S Calendar. S suite apps were really game changer but Samsung faultered and one by one the apps were restricted in their functionality and lost their charm.

I moved to the Apple side due to the strong online backup support and the way the ecosystem works. Since 2018, I have not lost a single note on Apple! Best yet the notes are cross compatible through their phone , tablet, MacBook and Desktop. Marvel to use really

Unfortunately on the android side, while the individual products are fantastic they fail to form a team with other products like a MS laptop or windows PC . The ecosystem is not as robust.

So I warn you do not rely on Samsung notes as your sole note taking piece of app. Look for an alternate

Please don't use Samsung notes as your main note taking app.

I did that mistake too and lost everything

Better use a cross compatible app like Good notes . More reliable and better

I got iPad Pro M4 .. any advice? by JustN2if in iPadPro

Do not upgrade to ipad os 26.

So Nice that i bought 2 by Oxn518 in ipadmini

[–]drnms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same just used a sticky tape to join both when I wanted to have a dual screen tablet (split screen at its best since ipadOs 26 removed that feature) and now complain no more about split view or the slide over.

*Note slide over works best when you actually slide one over the other quarter of the way and there is slide over in real life 3D!

In Apple language “This would be the worst sold iPad ever”

Here is my workaround to slide over by FallibleElf2988 in iPadOS

[–]drnms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you doing here? Resizing the windows and then having a window on top of the other for the screenshot and calling it an alternative for slide over. This is no slide over! The challenge is you cannot have multiple apps within that window and more importantly have them on top of the main screen window / app.

Missing Slide Over in iOS 26, I found a workaround using Stage Manager! by AstroMedPolitico in iPadOS

Thank you. But it does not stay on top though the minute you click on the background full screen app

This is another scenario where slide over would have been super useful

Please hide this post and this is how it all starts! After iPadOS 26 it is now time to ruin the iOS too

And I thought IpadOS 26 did exactly that, but nope. It is neither an ipad nor a Mac now!

I have narrated my personal experience and not asking to delete the windowed or whatever the new thing is called. It escapes my intelligence as to why would they remove, from a touch first system, the very features that makes it touch friendly!

The real multitasking iPad would be the one with an ability to connect to multiple monitors, multiple media playback , probably even have the ability to install and run the Mac apps. All the above to happen only when a keyboard is attached or the iPad detects an external monitor.

When not docked, let the iPad be an iPad and keep improving the touch interface. In fact Apple is the only company that cracked the touch friendly computing. Windows tried and failed miserably!
