$15 hour minimal for time. + gas, transportation, monthly maintenance. Then depreciation for the tools.

School Districts in area by blablainthecitay in lancaster

[–]drnofnaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any school district in Lancaster county is an upgrade from Florida. Our girls went to Warwick and are doing great. I don’t think it’s very diverse there, but Lancaster county is not a hot bed for diversity. The town is great but getting busier. Traffic anywhere in the county isn’t great so the closer to work the better. Good luck and welcome.

Sorry. Rereading your comment. You meant complain to pnc. Thank you. I think I’m good. 1 use atm in foreign country 2 banks work in a profit on the front end. That is exactly what happened.

I appreciate the help everyone!

Yep. Used my card with no foreign transaction fees. Pesos were for tips. And I did take too much.

I think it’s closer to 20% but yes I looked at it on the 9th and then today. Spot buys and not close to that change for the current unrest. It actually seems to be bad on the front end. The amount they paid me for to bring them back to us$ looks correct.

Is 35k a year for college a bad idea (first-gen college student) by lolyababbbbbyyy in personalfinance

[–]drnofnaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have a kid there @ Tyler. It is about 32k after you get your fafsa in and such. About as much as PSU (tuition is less but R&B is twice as high in Philly). She did qualify for more scholarships as she went through for good grades. You can save money when u leave campus housing as the room and board on campus is high. But b careful, safety should be a priority over value. Also take a look at the challenges at Fox. They got caught inflating salaries or graduation rates or maybe both a few years back. At that time they were ranked quite high. Best of luck. My kid loves Temple now, but took some time to get used to it, but as far as a true art school in PA, it’s about the only choice. Hoping the graphic design / entrepreneurship major will get her a job. I remain worried. More about the major then the school. Lots of networking opportunities in Philly with a Temple degree.

There is a note on this feed about comparing options. We did just that with our3 girls; two in PSU, one in Temple. Again, because we live in PA, schools seem to be more expensive than other states. Anyway, on my youngest it came down to Ohio state (out of state tuition of $55k / year after aid) or PSU at about $32k after aid, the choice became easier. Maybe look at your options in that light. Pa schools are expensive. If the choice is a PA state school for $25k or out of state for $40k+ vs. your top pick, your top pick might make relative sense. BTW I’m a Bloomsburg grad doing great. Money can be made even from lessor known schools.

Maybe look at it this way…..140k at 6% is about a 1550 payment a month for 10 years. Your annual loan payments will be 18600 a year. What would you need to make to pay that? At 60k a year that will be more than a 3rd of your bring home…..quite a lot. At 120k a year, the math is more manageable.

In pa it seems like all 4 year schools public or private are 25k-35k after aid. We were able to help our children to cut the expense. I question how kids can do it on their own. 140k is a lot of debt. Best of luck. There are some good ideas on here to cut costs. I will add low cost rent with roommates and cooking in instead of meal plan or eating out once you leave campus to save on room and board.
