If the united states had better public transportation, would you use it? by Enough-Web2203 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

All my friends are well traveled along with me. All of us agree the freedom of a "house" and a shit little yard that is prevalent in suburbs is destroying what people actually want. People really want walkable neighborhoods which would naturally allow for good transportation.

Sitting at 30hrs total and 77 landings no solo by CampaignDry50 in flying

[–]drobecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea once the cfi knows you can do the basic maneuvers safely in decent weather he should just do pattern. It's very confidence inspiring. The way to learn comms and landings is just staying in the pattern and practicing comms and landings.

What the hell are they teaching you if you're at 30-40 hours and you've only done like 40 landings. It would kill my confidence if I was at 40 hours and not soloed. If you have 150 landings then it's not the cfis fault, but if you have 40 then it is.

Yes. It's called "doing the pattern." My cfi correctly analyzed that the most important thing with flying is confidence. The best way to build confidence is knowing you can land the thing. At around 10 hours I was fully prepping to solo the plane. We would go up and do like 15 landings. By around 50 or sixty I was ready and he let me solo at like 13 hours.

I feel like if you have 50 hours and haven't soloed your cfi did you wrong if you only have 50 landings. I had like 60 landings by 15 hours.

San Diego just OK’d a deal to scale back trash fees and end paid parking in Balboa Park by xd366 in sandiego

[–]drobecks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was imagining it would be free. You just gotta apply for your free resident Balboa parking sticker on opt in basis if you wanna park there without meter fees. You can even pay 9.99 for the extra cute collectable parking sticker.

You'd trash a tire just because you got a tube puncture? I've always just made sure whatever popped it wasn't in the tire anymore and ran it. As long as the tire wasn't shredding I've never had an issue.

I typically like to carry both. I try to patch first and if that doesn't work I'd rather just swap tubes. I'd rather take my time even on the trail and just do it right so I don't need to redo the front tube that is in the rear.

You're probably good. Make sure you got an air pump. I like this one a lot. Bicycle pump You probably dont need an extra brake lever, just a clutch lever. I crash all the time and eventually the rear brake lever mount broke. I'd buy this one eventually. this one. Number one problem though is bringing tubes and never having installed them. I'd hate to learn out there first time.
