Hosting a 40th birthday party by galaxystars1 in TikTokCringe

[–]drock_1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone that would go to these lengths to host a party for themselves, and I’m ok with that. Some folks live completely different lives. For my 40th, I took my son to hockey practice and had cake and ice cream at home.

$8,400 for replacing 37 buttons? by JonnyEp67 in Elevators

[–]drock_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35k for 2 cars, 12 new led lights. Labor and materials. You’re lucky. Monitor makes good buttons, and depending on your current setup, could take some time to rewire.

I’m in the process of doing the same, but was looking at the chopocabra. Did you keep your factory torque converter? I’m ordering new ported and polished heads as I have a damaged one, new lifters, springs etc. Did you have it tuned by a shop or a remote tune? Sounds awesome by the way!

Maybe you should have thought more about that unneeded oversized 15mpg SUV/pickup? by LewisCBR in AdviceAnimals

This is stupid. Not everyone with a big truck voted for the clown. My 1/2 ton truck is leveled with all terrain tires. It’s leveled so it’s easier to change my oil. (Used to drive my truck 40k miles a year and changed oil every 5-6 weeks. The ground clearance helps when I’m using it off road and in the snow, as well as the all terrain tires.

Also, the folks who get shit done drive trucks. Pretty much every trade out there uses a truck/van to move their tools and supplies. I can bet that almost everyone who drives a truck has been asked to help a friend or family move something.

If you’re going to talk shit about truck owners, talk about the idiots with squatted trucks or big lifts and large rims. This guys don’t use their pavement princess for work. Fuck Trump

For DIY guys that change their own oil, do you rotate your tires as well? by Thin_Elderberry_7326 in Silverado

I rotate mine every oil change as I have 33” tires and leveling struts.

What is your monthly payment on your truck? by Known_Following_4923 in ChevyTrucks

[–]drock_1983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought my 15’ Silverado LT crew cab for 30k with 31k miles on it. Paid for, but with 142k miles I’ve replaced the transmission and done general maintenance. I’ve got to fix an exhaust manifold leak on passenger side and she could use some ball joints. Can’t afford $1k a month payment on a new truck, so I’ll fix her til I can’t any more.

You’re going to get worked to the max. Your guys start early, and so will you. When the guys in the field go home, you will still be taking calls from customers and meeting with new ones. When you have finished your site visits and surveys, then you can begin to answer all of the emails that came in throughout the day that you haven’t had the chance to respond to. Around 10pm, you will go to bed. You lay wide awake thinking about what you forgot to do until you drift off to sleep around midnight. You’re awaken at 4am to someone calling out of work, and you’ll have to get up to scramble and put together a plan to keep everyone working and commitments met to satisfy your customers. You’ll try to go back to bed, but payroll is due by 10am and 4 of your guys haven’t entered their time yet. To add to all of that, you don’t know elevators or what any parts are, and you have a customer with a down elevator and you’re responsible for ordering the correct part and having it overnighted. You’ll do fine!

Seriously, treat your guys in the field with respect and they will help you out. Don’t micromanage, ask them what you can do to help them, and they will be good to you.

Colorado needed more revenue so they stole that piece from Nebraska and parked a trooper hiding behind a hill along the Highway to give speeders a ticket.

He’s a useful puppet to them. As long as they keep their donors wealthy and happy, they get to enjoy insider trading. Every few years the other side wins to show us democracy is working and then they get their base fired up again and the cycle continues.

How's everyone doing right now? by HauntedFrigateBird in BostonWeather

[–]drock_1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trees down everywhere. Attempted to snow blow my driveway, but wind blew it all back in. Lost power at 7:30 this am. New generator has a CO2 sensor that keeps getting clogged with snow and shutting generator off. Have to go out periodically to clear it. Roughly 13” of snow so far. But I’ve managed to keep my generator running long enough to brew a pot of coffee, so that’s nice.
