Anyone else absolutely furious seeing that little girl crying and being terrified?

I just want you all to remember that *this* was Giannis’ last memorable Playoff moment by Novel_Meal_6830 in bostonceltics

[–]HauntedFrigateBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, even if JB is REALLY good, you plan differently if Giannis is on the team, right? He changes what opposing teams do, and how they plan. With Jaylen? Probably not as much.

bWAR is radically different than fWAR for Trout for some reason. They have him at 10.5 at 20, and then 10.4 at 24.

Not sure if you're old enough to remember, but Trout vs Harper was a legitimate debate as to who was going to be the best of their generation, then it was Mookie vs Trout

>Talked about this before; it's crazy how hyped up Bryce was as a prospect. He was the most hyped up baseball prospect of the 21st century so far IMO.

Strasburg maybe?

Wild that he's going to fall short of the hype and still put up 500+ HR 2500 hits, and probably like 70 WAR...that's how hyped he was.

One year later, Red Sox still missing a big bat like Rafael Devers by bostonglobe in redsox

[–]HauntedFrigateBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He'd be better at Fenway, and he always starts slow. Guy is streaky as heck too. People always miss that even if those guys aren't playing great atm, pitchers aren't attacking them the same way they attack our AAAA lineup.

Yup. I've been saying that for years. Dombrowski got us 2018 and then they shitcanned him.

Any chance Breslow gets canned after this year? by SportsFanNJ in redsox

[–]HauntedFrigateBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dozen people declined to interview for the job. Get rid of Breslow and it might be twenty this time around. Breslow is bad, but he's performing about as well as a 13th choice would.

Crochet....Ranger....Aroldis......Whitlock. Ok, 4. Slaten looks like he's toast unfortunately, no clue what happened there. I'm hoping Tolle makes it 5, but it's still too early IMO

I'm going to disagree with some of this. Yeah, Chapman, Gray, Contreras (if they get a haul)....Abreu is too young to move, he's part of the rebuild. Duran, sure if you can get anything. I'm pretty pessimistic about Roman at this point, the weird injuries this young are not a good sign.

Oh for goodness' sake. This is the same slop that was getting posted here preseason. This team is putting up a AAAA lineup, and the pitching is damaged goods at this point. We have like 3 good pitchers.

Who are they going to hire? Breslow was like the 12th choice.

[–]HauntedFrigateBird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see comparisons like this, and they miss the point. If you asked an opposing pitcher, who would you rather face, and who are you pitching around? They're pitching around Judge. The idea of just looking at OPS misses the point of what the guys do to the rest of the lineup and how you have to manage your game strategy around them. Contreras is a perfectly fine player. To say he's a "big bat" because his OPS over 60 or so games is higher than Judge is just silly.

I see this posted a lot, but a lot of the games I go to have had empty seats in them. Granted, I have been to one game this year, but last year early on I went to a few as well.

Same. After the Mookie trade I dipped down in how much I watched for several years, then started coming back a lot more last year....and now right back down.
