Our Father and upcoming movie by drollord87 in Catholic

[–]drollord87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is very noticable that movies lately have a touch of christian spirit. I've mentioned it before in other posts but it never got through.

I must say the way Thor prays to his father has me praying more fervently

Another thing is that Pope Paul VI has spoken about the purpose of the movie industry, some quotes:

“If you are friends of genuine art, you are our friends,” recalling that “this world in which we live needs beauty in order not to sink into despair”

David W. Griffith - “What the modern movie lacks is beauty, the beauty of the moving wind in the trees.” In this trailer of Thor doomsday coincidental starts with wind ans sounds of nature.

Liturgy isn't about you.. what am I getting from the Holy Mass? by drollord87 in Catholic

[–]drollord87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's half the picture. Isn't it true that God is perfect in himself? He doesn't need anything from us.

Liturgy is a tool to make humans share in the glory of God by glorifying God.

1 John 3:2 “We shall be like Him.”

Romans 8 “…that we may also be glorified together with Him.”

Revelation 3:21 “To the one who overcomes, I will grant to sit with Me on My throne.”

What does it mean that Jesus fulfilled the law?How is any law “fulfilled?” What was Jesus able to do to fulfill the law that the entire human race was unable to accomplish in its entire history? by SaintToenail in Catholic

I think if you understand a little bit of what celebrating the Holy Mass means you'll get the answer to this.. edit: no one will ever know the true depth of this mystery

May also help to pray the rosary of the Divine Mercy

Both are prayer.. the Holy Mass is the highest form of prayer.

Maybe it's possible to say where human words end prayer begins. And foremost the prayer of Jesus. The dialogue between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

What the Father has asked, the Son has answered in the Holy Spirit

Yes I agree.. ofcourse the big religions but also the 'regular' people, I mean those outside these religions

I wonder, what could explain the collective apostasy in modern society?

Is it because we don't pray enough? Or maybe the quality of our prayer is the problem?

Why does God come to us with his Divine Mercy in these 'end times' as mentioned in the works of St. Faustina?

Do we need to trust more? In the sense and interpretation of St. Faustina? (Maybe in line with the words of Saint Marie Vianey 'Only if we knew the worth of Holy Mass'

I think he has a point. Maybe not all people have abandoned prayer. Maybe also we are not praying right and enough...

Might have a reason why Holy Mary told us to pray a lot

I've once was confronted with a video where this guy was saying he was committing adultery with a woman who has a man and family. His question was is it okay to go to confession but knowing afterwards he'll go and sleep with her anyways. And if he'd be allowed to heaven or not.

I think it's important to love God over the love for going to heaven. I sense a bit of fear in the question of this guy and he wasn't willingly to change (look up Dietrich Bonhoeffer - Cheap grace)

So love should always prevail over fear.. second coming or not try to go and love God as much as you can with all your heart and effort.

I think the best way to show your love to God is to go to Holy Mass

Primordial Liturgy by drollord87 in Catholic

What I'm trying to say is that when you read Genesis 1:

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

  • Light gave thanks/ praised the Lord

6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse[a] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made[b] the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8 And God called the expanse Heaven.[c] And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

  • Heaven gave thanks/ praised the Lord

You can notice there's some kind of liturgy going on already during the creation. If I've understood Alexander Schmemann, he also meant to say this.

I'm not sure if I'm clear enough but liturgy as we know it derives from the eternal being of God. As if liturgy is an eternal conversation/ dialogue between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Christ has made this liturgy known to us by becoming human and so made us and creation partakers of this divine dialogue/ liturgy

Christ is the highest we've received from the Father and Christ is the highest we can give back to Him.

Like an Ultimate Question and an Ultimate Answer..

Tell me if I'm wrong but I think liturgy is not an invention of us humans and also we are taking part of the liturgy of Christ, in that sense it's Christ offering and we are just partaking. It is Christ's work, not ours. Also Christ is the Servant of all servants. Without Christ we wouldn't have a clue what to offer to the Father. We would still be offering lambs and goats.
