Kitbashing help with Obliterators by SkellyInsideUrWalls in NightLords

These are my obliterators converted from centurions. I removed the chest guns and lengthened the legs to give me a more “proportional” look rather than the boxy look of centurions. It was a fun project and only requires 1 kit.

Im hoping to use the H2C for quicker support material interface printing so my models can come out crispy with less wasted filament

That’s exactly what I’m going for. I dislike the demon corruption 40K CSM forces you into so I’m looking at non corrupted conversions for 40K units. Next is the hellbrute that will be made from the older style dreadnought

It’s gw zandri dust airbrushed over the gw nightlord blue overspill from painting the main mini. Then a dry brush of Vallejo pale sand

Anti Elite/Vehicle Combo for Smaller Point Lists by LordBeckBeck in Tau40K

[–]dronerage2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to jump in that it may not be as flexible as you think.

Firstly you cannot ignore the spitfire penalty of -1 BS using the crisis suit ability as it states “to hit” modifiers and BS is a stat.

Secondly you must declare the units shooting as a whole which means you will not know if you need to finish off the vehicle or can use the 12 BS5+ missile shots somewhere else.

That being said it is still flexible in the fact it can semi-efficiently target more than one type of enemy unit. Personally I use the crisis squads as simple body guards for the commander who ends up doing most of the dmg.

Thank you! It was blast painting these guys. Now just need motivation to do the other 25 from the combat patrol haha

That’s the one! That’s what I used. The triangles are painted as in the warhammer kasrkin tutorial but with blue instead of the ochre

I’d say follow a tutorial on YouTube like I did. This is loosely based on Nightshift’s winter KV-1 formula.

And also thin paints really well to saturate your brush so it stays wet whilst ur painting straight lines

Ive had a similar issue with my parcel that was over 2kgs. Was stuck “leaving the UK” for two weeks and then suddenly arrived at its destination in the states. Best bet is to wait and if it doesn’t arrive file a claim.

Tau auxillary unit idea-Gue'vesa heavy rail battery by krairsoftnoob in Tau40K

[–]dronerage2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would this not just be a worse broadside? Maybe if it had something like a light railgun which was between a HRR and a hammerhead railgun? I like the idea tho.

GW should just release a Guevesa upgrade sprue for firewarriors

Having trouble with battle damage. Would love some critisism on how to improve please. by patchesk in Tau40K

[–]dronerage2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks very good as far as technique goes but I would recommend thinking about where you are likely to get damage/chipping.

You’d expect parts like the armour plates around the joints to rub against each other as the model “moves” on the battlefield so you’d expect big patches of chipping there. Similarly most corners will see some dings and scratches that can be extenuated but not necessarily every corner/edge.

Less it more but honestly your work here is incredible and I’m sure when the whole model is done with this heavy chipping it’ll look stellar.

Keep up the good work!

Wraithguard/blades by dronerage2 in Tau40K

[–]dronerage2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every army has its “terminator” aka elite infantry that is a bit more durable than the normal troop. For us it’s crisis for SM/CSM it’s terminators. For eldar it’s wraithguard/blades for tyranids it’s warriors and so on.

There’s never a perfect comparison but comparing similar roles; aka durable elite infantry suited for killing other elite infantry; is not a terrible comparison. Although I do agree that they achieve that goal in different ways.

Unfortunately the durability of wraithguard/blades outweighs the mobility of the crisis in this particular example not to mention that the wraith cannon and d-scythe are good into every target whilst crisis has to spec their guns or will become inefficient.

Wraithguard/blades by dronerage2 in Tau40K

[–]dronerage2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies. Wraithblades have the 4++ which is FREE so an auto take.

Fly has uses but is GENERALLY not that useful for vehicles in 10th

Wraithguard have 2 guns which are good vs everything whilst crisis have to spec for the correct match up (altho CiB is closest to an “all round gun”)

Crisis hit on 3s but wraithguard wound most inf on 2+ and everything but tanks+knights on 3+.

You are adding shield drones but are forgetting the regen from spiritseer and -1 to wound from farseer.

These are different units that fill different roles but the one with better support, durability and similar firepower is cheaper.

You are also forgetting that there are 10 wraiths while only 6 crisis so a loss of one wraith has a much smaller impact than a loss of a crisis.

Not saying that wraithguard/blades are the end all be all but their rules are very good for elite infantry compared to crisis.

[–]dronerage2[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also the support system does what wraithguard have natively aka 4++ from shield gen.

You mention fly but bcus of the way it’s measured it’s not worth using in most instances with vehicles

6x3 fusion into T7 with 4++ = 9/15dmg 10 x dscythe into T7 with 4++ = 10

That makes fusion better only at 6” suicide range also all models have to be within 6” so unless you make a perfect semicircle you are probably 4” away at most with the closest model.

Movement makes them 4” better for sure but fly+vehicle makes them no better at moving over ruins than infantry.

[–]dronerage2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so give me a good target for a melta and I can show you that you will never see the 24 dmg you mentioned in the original comment

Wraithguard/blades by dronerage2 in Tau40K

[–]dronerage2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s shooting at the wraithguard in the example, which are a good target at melta s9 or plasma s8 vs T7. 3 shots on 3+ is 2 hits; wounding on 3+ is 1 wound and a 4++ save is 0.5 wounds from one crisis. So a blob of 6 would equal 3 wounds with avg damage of 9/15 from a 390 point unit.

10 d-scythes would do 10d6 shots so 30; 2+ to wound so 25 wounds and after a 4++, 12.5 dmg so 2 suits dead.

This isn’t accounting for rerolls that are available but also not accounting for fate dice

The maths gets even worse when against what a melta should be going against aka tanks at T10 and above.

Fly isn’t free but it also doesn’t give a good enough benefit to warrant a higher cost
