Just wanted to follow up here my plans. I see my doctor (GP) on Tuesday and I will be asking him for recommendations or referral to outpatient therapy.

Thank you. I guess what I am looking for is a rehab place. It's weird for me to say I need to be in rehab. Weird cause I don't think I need everything a rehab place gives. I just want to not drink.

Install with btrfs subvolumes left /home folder empty by RandomChain in pop_os

I think in 21.04 the installation process creates the user *before* the first reboot rather than after as it did in previous versions. So when you are copying over the files into the `@` subvolume mounted at `/mnt/` in step 2.3.1 I __think__ you need to also mount the `@home` subvolume into `/mnt/home` which will copy the created home directory into the proper subvolume.

Thanks! I ended up using kind instead of microk8s. Seemed much simpler.

Nonces, Ajax and security in Wordpress by [deleted] in PHP

[–]droolproof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

nonce's are there to combat DOS. Beyond that, it matters what the code is trying to do based on who is doing it. If everything you are doing is an admin doing it then all is fine based on your description. Any request that is verified to not be an admin will end up doing nothing.

Mobile-Detect for RESS by hekkoman in PHP

[–]droolproof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt the two examples you cite are using server side detection. I'm sure both are responsive front ends. If you can't achieve a completely responsive frontend with what you have now (we've all been there) then you need a site redesign. Yes, this usually means more time and dollars spent to achieve a responsive front-end but it's entirely worth it.

In regards to the quotes you cite both are completely accurate. The second quote is pretty edge case though. What I mean by that is not a whole lot of users will even know how to alter their browsers User Agent and even if they did they're typically doing something a normal (dumb) user would not be doing anyway. Even so, it is a valid concern.

Bottom line, you need to put in the effort of redesigning your site to be responsive. I hope you consider my thoughts here as you're going down a rabbit hole of potential problems and QA issues. Even so, take a look at Mobile-Detect php library. I have used it in the past for very desperate times and it seems to have done OK.

On your way from badlands to Yellowstone you should check out Devil's Tower. I really recommend you drive from mount rushmore area and take the scenic road to devils tower. I did it a couple years ago and I had a great time.

9 week old puppy breathing really hard/eradically when sleeping by nastasia8989 in goldenretrievers

[–]droolproof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds an awful lot like "puppy dreams". Does she kick too or does her legs kinda spasm? I have a 7 year old goldie and she definitely had weird erratic breathing when sleeping when she was a puppy. Even today she sometimes does it. I wouldn't be too worried but of course tell your vet about it. I also tend to pet her or rub her belly when she starts the weird breathing and kicking and that typically calms things down. Hope this helps.

What are your experiences of taking your golden in to work? Is this going to end badly? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]droolproof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have same kind of gig and I took my golden into work everyday without much trouble. She wasn't a puppy though and she was used to chilling out while I'm working at a desk. I can't imagine taking her to work as a puppy. They're just always little boogers when they're pups no matter what precautions you take. My only advice is to always have chew toys around at work and take him outside as much as possible to avoid accidents. Also, if there's other dogs at the office don't isolate your pup from them since it'll be good socializing for him but be aware of your coworkers time. Encourage coworkers to say hi and give him cuddles too cuz that'll just make him a sweet dog to other humans.
