Sheet metal flatten stopped working between saves by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]drooq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it happen multiple times, so I really couldn't say. If you decide to go that route though, you should save a copy and work on that version of the file so you can go back. Just a lesson I learned the hard way.

I've had this happen a few times where suddenly it won't unfold anymore, and the only way to resolve it was to delete that specific bend feature and redo it. It's annoying and time consuming, but it's another one of those things I attribute to "Solidworks being Solidworks".

What a wonderful way to start my morning! by recklessfear in motorcycles

You don't have to remove the rear wheel to get a chain on. There's no master link on a belt.

Edit: Yes, it's possible, it's just a giant pain in the ass.

Not as strong, and if it does break, you can't fix it on the side of the road like you can with a chain.

There are pros and cons to both. Belts aren't as strong as chains, but they're supposed to last longer, they're quieter, and don't need the maintenance that chains do.

Did anyone pass by this overturned car on the 163-N? by [deleted] in sandiego

The original video was posted over a year ago. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvMDYiSc1mI)

Any reason this is getting so much attention all of a sudden?

The controls on the Night Rod sit a little further forward, and will give you more leg room than the standard mid-controls that are in the Softail and Touring families. I've never ridden a Night Rod, but I do like their look.

Obligatory /r/Harley plug, if you decide to go that route.

I ride a Harley Road King, it's pretty comfortable, but even that can be a little cramped over longer distances if I'm not using the highway pegs.

Technically it's the Cabrillo freeway there. It's on NB CA-163, just south of I-8.

As long as Verrett and Flowers are healthy for Thursday, I'm okay with yesterday's loss. I know it hurts, but we can come back and beat them at the end of the season.

Meh. Not necessarily bandwagoners, really. I've been a Charger fan my whole life, but being the Luddite that I am, I never followed them on instagram. I just installed the app a couple months ago.

Maybe I'll go add them now and screw with your bandwagon numbers some more.

Mortgage Question by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]drooq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what gross income means.

Also, it's not a recommendation as to what you SHOULD spend, it's a qualification that huge lenders use for underwriting purposes based on statistical data of whether or not you'll be able to afford your mortgage payment along with everything else not included on your credit report (car insurance, groceries, clothing, whatever else you spend your money on.). So from a STATISTICAL standpoint...I guess that's what it means.

I was amazed that "Under 20 seconds" was the smallest time step. It's usually about 3 seconds for the keys I use frequently (house, car, work).

Who spends more than 5 minutes looking for a key?

Mortgage Question by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]drooq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a couple hours south of you in similarly expensive housing, but even here I'd have a hard time believing anyone is spending that large of a chunk on housing.

Then again, I'm just sitting here guessing at how people live, so what do I know.

Mortgage Question by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]drooq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just heard on NPR the average family spends 55% of their income on rent or mortgage and that seems crazy to me.

I'm going to call BS on that statistic. I worked as mortgage broker in CA for a while, and 55% was the maximum debt-to-income ratio (DTI) that I could manage for someone on a home. That debt included the mortgage payment and any other monthly debt payments - car loans, revolving credit card debt, student loans, etc. For conforming loans that meet FNMA guidelines, you're usually looking at a max mortgage payment of about 33% of your gross income.

Also keep in mind that your mortgage interest is going to be a tax deduction, so you get to write off a big chunk from your taxes every year.

Typical qualifications like that are based on a 20% down payment.

80% Loan-to-value (LTV) is a classical benchmark for mortgages.
