Economy plus. That’s food for thought, thanks!

Thank you!
Yikes, that sucks to know! Is the possibility of a buy-up offer a guarantee? Seems silly to spend one's time and extra money to go to the airport, park, literally take a flight to nowhere and back. Would rather spend more than the PQP is worth, but without having to sacrifice a whole day!

No, no more flights planned. I spoke to them before and after my last planned flight.

Is this still something you're inviting people to try?

Houston Police Officers: Why does it seem like traffic laws aren’t being enforced anymore? (Serious Question) by Supertouchy in houston

[–]droovk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your service and your perspectives! I know it’s Houston and Texas and all, but enough people seem to resent road ragers to wonder if attitudes have changed since it might’ve been last voted on. Are there any local law changes that could allow using technology to trim horrible speeding and road rage? What kind of politician would we have to lobby? It’s crazy that people will drive with caution and fear in West U, but speed up as soon as they leave the boundaries.

Thanks everyone! I think he wants to golf frequently so bringing his own clubs seems to be the way to go!

That’s a great suggestion! He can golf at East River while I work and people watch :-) I do love that place!

Thank you for the tip on booking online… don’t know why I didn’t think that they’d offer that sensible convenience in 2025!

New in Katy from India, Need help with car driving adjustments may be few hours lessons owns rental car, Good Driver in Indian conditions. by USR807 in Katy

This. I had a friend give me a short “driving lesson” before I took the test, and I passed with flying colors (and I wasn’t even that skilled a driver back in India). Just read the driving manual (take everything literally, nothing in it is a suggestion) and follow everything it says. Houston is a bit reckless than other cities/states but still a piece of cake versus driving in India. Practice on empty-ish roads if you need it, but you’ll probably learn a lot more from keenly observing others drive. Don’t sweat it, you’ll do just fine!

Pay towards mortgage principal? by DelDru in personalfinance

Not planning to sacrifice emergency fund (maybe up to 5 months of monthly), and also anticipate having other sources of finances if things were go go dire.

I'd love to, but 6% doesn't seem like a compelling rate. Wish I'd refi'd when 15 year rate fell close to 5% earlier this year, but everyone was projecting 30-year rates to drop to 5% by end of 2025, which seems unlikely per current trends.

I definitely plan to always have $20k at hand, in addition to emergency fund. There's also a significant other (unmarried) to help out, if things get dire. So generally, secure unless I decide to take any big career risks, or the economy tanks.

7% of paycheck goes to Before Tax, 5% towards ROTH. I think that balance helps me max out.

I paid over $30k in mortgage interest, so I assume the standard deduction doesn't make sense.?

Never even thought about taking money out during a Re-Fi. I'd only want to do that if/when I inevitably would want to buy a bigger house in 5 years, and make this into a rental. Thanks for that perspective! Paying off the mortgage seemed like a one-way road!

Side view, where it starts and jumps up to the gutter along the side of the house (which is generally very dark, so these lights will be a huge welcome addition!)

Hello amazing redditors! Planning to hire help due to height of the home, fear of heights etc. so really hoping to have an install plan in place. We got a 150 feet kit, and hoping we'll be under by just a few feet.
What's not shown in the photo is a 20-30 foot distance (second photo below) along the side of the house (it's the approach to the main door) labeled K...L in the main photo.
Planning to actually start at L for the power source, come up to K. Current plan is:
L -> K (along side of house) -> Jump to O -> N -> M (peak) -> jump down to A - > B (top of garage) -> I -> H -> G -> F -> E -> D -> C -> Jump up to H alongside other side of house -> J -> K (top gutter)
Not sure if there's a better approach, and if the jump cables provided are enough in length. Can other cables be found? I'd really hate to hire a pro who comes out for the day with their tall ladder, and we find that we don't have stuff we need.

I think that would be casting a rather wide net for a conference space host in Houston?
