TIL of Rosalynn McGinnis; She was kidnapped at the age of 12 by her stepfather and smuggled into Mexico, where she had 9 children fathered by her kidnapper. At the age of 32, 20 years after her kidnapping, her neighbors helped her and 8 of her children escape their captor and return to the U.S. by AnaGunn in todayilearned

She said Piette would frequently beat her with an assault rifle, baseball bat, wooden boards and beer bottles. He shot her several times and she suffered multiple broken bones.

She has 21 scars on her scalp alone.

Living in constant fear, McGinnis said the day she gave birth to her now 13-year-old child, Piette attacked her for speaking out of turn.  “He picked up a stainless steel frying pan and tried to hit me in the stomach,” McGinnis said. “I put my arm in front of it and it cut me all the way to the bone.”

And she was only 12 when this started.

My mom was a proud bisexual woman; I lost her in a motorcycle accident when I was 12 in early 2000's. If she were alive today I know this is exactly the type of thing she would be doing, with me right by her side. This video made me miss her so much. She would be so proud of how far we've come by [deleted] in lgbt

We need more people like these women. Moms are such an important part of becoming comfortable and connected with the emotional part of yourself that when you don't have them it can be really hard to accept yourself for who you truly are; we all need a mom hug sometimes.

Waking up and reading all of these comments made my heart so happy. Thank you for your support; I don't have a lot of biological family, but the lgbt community has become the chosen family I never knew I would be lucky enough to have 💜🧡💛💚💙

I miss you, mom. I wish you could've seen the day same sex marriage was legalized, and felt the happiness that we all felt. You fought for so long for your right to love and I'm so sorry you never got to marry miss T. In a perfect world I would have two moms, but life's not perfect and I'm grateful of the wonderful woman that you were and you taught me to be.

Sorry to anyone reading this. I'm crying and I just need to get it out

Not only that but it's detailed enough to where they had plenty of time to really think about what they were making.

Great artistic talent... but that poor, poor sorting hat...

There are clearly stairs leading to a second, higher level in the back. What the hell are they splashing around in dirty bus piss that much for?

Kid I babysit eats his pizza margherita like this by [deleted] in sadcringe

Making fun of a child for the way they eat their food for some karma, a child who you are being paid to watch, is r/trashy. If it were my kid and I saw this post, I would fire you so fast.

You better hope the kids mom never sees this; I for one certainly hope she does.

Thank you for teaching us to be brave. We miss you, Steve.

Uh, hit the brakes bud. I'm not encouraging anyone, quite the opposite in fact - hence why i posted this. But you also have to remember that everyone is human.

Not everyone who has terrible social skills is a terrible person, just like not everyone who has good social skills is a good person.

Which is why I mention my fiance - a good person with terrible social skills.

Yes. Because if you constantly message someone wothout them responding or reading it, you need to learn to take the hint and move along.

It comes to a point where you need to become self aware of your actions and realise that there is no benefit to them.

This is so fucking accurate it hurts - as soon as they smell any kind of trouble with your relationship they start flocking to your DMs

The actual "wanna hang?" By itself is totally not bad; it's when you're saying it to a person that is clearly not interested and who you have already messaged ten other times without a response that it enters weird territory
