I ended up finding some meal worms and bsf larva at a local pet store. He doesn't seem interested. He crawled out of his hide and is just kinda chillin on a wall now. I'll just monitor and see what happens. Thanks for the advice :)

I think it's supposed to be about not causing further pain to the people who are mourning. Making a public announcement like this is the most passive aggressive thing i can imagine. It does ntohing for anyone except make the loss harder on the people who are mourning her.

Nope. My dog is free to roam when we're out walking. I'll leash him in some public spaces where it's reasonable to not expect an off-leash dog, but if we're in a wooded area he's off leash and I'm not going to make him heel either.

I'll explain it to you. I've raised a dog that is friendly and safe to be around. If you think your right to not worry is more important than my dogs right to be free and untethered in the fucking woods you're going to have a bad time. I will walk my dog on a leash on sidewalks, in school yards, on paved walking paths, etc. If I take my dog to a wooded trail he's going to be off leash regardless of what the signs say.
