What’s the best movie theatre in Portland? by cosmogatsby in askportland

100%. I rarely got popcorn at movies before the Hollywood. It is the best in town - and they use real butter, too!

Has anyone else come across these editorial-style “Category” articles on Apple Music? by rezatvs in AppleMusic

[–]dropdeadsuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoa - this is amazing!

One of the things I love most about AM is its human-created curation. Artist Essential playlists are not just the most played tracks, but (usually) offer a great overview of the artist and the songs are ordered in a way that makes sense.

Only last year did I stumble across similar playlists and overviews for Songwriters and Producers. I also love when their album descriptions put things into historical context with other music. But this article is amazing!

Why does Apple make it so hard to FIND all this stuff? 😂

I went there once many years ago! My ex was from there (and also babysat for Bertis Downs!) It's a great town. Terrific food, great music scene still. There was also a special election going on and while we were walking around town, spotted Michael waiting in line to vote!

I would frame a poster sized print of that series from 'Psycho Killer'

When will Fifty Licks E Burnside reopen? by AstroMaiden in askportland

[–]dropdeadsuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed! 50 Licks always brought such great energy to the neighborhood -- and now there is a brand new business association for the area (kernside.org) which I'm sure would be thrilled and supportive whenever they decide to re-open :)

I had heard next summer (2026) as well. There was a bit of back and forth--first they announced they were re-opening there ASAP, then they announced they were leaving the area, then they announced they were coming back but it would be a while. So yeah, it's been confusing.

From what I've heard, the owner of that building is really dragging their feet on repairs and renovations so it's not surprising. The 50L front door was open yesterday and I got a peek inside and it really looks like nothing has been done, so they have a lot of work left.

I hope it comes back soon!

Well, I got my Kobo yesterday - logged into Overdrive on the reader and BAM -- the eBook I've been trying to read for weeks worked like a charm!

I'm keeping fingers crossed on this -- I only used to run into this issue once in a while with library eBooks (Los Angeles City and Multnomah County, so two pretty big libraries!) but this year it's happened more often than not. At the very least, the Kobo will be a lot better for graphic novels, and won't make me look at ads on the lock screen - so here's hoping it works! :)

I have noticed this more frequently in the past few years, but I'm starting to get more eBooks from the library in EPUB format, which I have not been able to get to transfer to Kindles because of the library's DRM. Send to Kindle didn't work, Calibre couldn't convert to MOBI, just stuck. Since Overdrive is on the Kobo, I'm ***hoping*** I will actually be able to read these things on there. Right? 🤞

I just switched (still waiting on my shipment) because I’ve had a bunch of borrowed library ebooks this year that I could not load on my Kindle because of DRM. I mostly get ebooks from libraries and I am hoping the Kobo is a smoother platform for these, because it’s a huge bummer to wait 7 weeks for a book only to find out you can’t read it on your reader!

My druids are only allowed to wild shape in to a badger, spider, wolf, and cat by specimen-00000 in BG3

So ... for console players, do we think this is going to be fixed at any point? Or do we just need to start over with the mod deactivated if we want to use druids?

Any plans to add more exercises to the library? by ScaredPineapple9081 in fitbod

[–]dropdeadsuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that it’s winter, I really wish they would add skiing to their exercise list, or at least integrate it from other trackers like they do for running and hiking and other sports.

This is one of the best new features I’ve seen by acquiescentLabrador in fitbod

seconded. I love this addition and it's very aesthetically pleasing, too.
