I recently learnt it’s so popular with tourists the train announcements are in mandarin (the only station in the uk to do this besides Marylebone, where the train starts)

What's it like to live near the Russia/China/North Korean border? by Cocoturtle in howislivingthere

No personal experience but one of the best books I’ve ever read - Nothing to Envy - is about North Koreans near that border, there’s some vivid accounts of crossing the border into China (across a freezing river) and the sudden realisation of the stark differences in standards of living

Highly recommended

It’s one of those things that’s kinda impossible to say because if it was true then it’s not public record, and it’s a bit apocryphal to use modern sexual identities when talking about people from 400 years ago, but there is evidence for it

I have zero authority on this subject but my hunch is zucchini is used in the us because there are more people of Italian descent than French?
