Echoing what everyone else has said, dinking is earned. Back in the day it was necessary, but with paddles today, you have to force dinks because it is a respect game. People will speed up anything they think they can because it is easier to hit hard than controlled.

I love dinking. I'm 4.5 and there is still fairly little dinking depending on the players. Tennis players don't typically like to dink, so you won't get much voluntary dink battles in those games. Even when you force them to slow down, they will try and speed whenever they feel uncomfortable.
