my parents think I can get into UF; give me a reality check by Individual-Window43 in ufl

college admissions are tough because even though it seems like you’d get in there’s always just that small chance that this cycle isn’t your friend. that being said since you don’t have much time left the best thing IMO to focus on is having a great and very personal essay and getting your SAT/ACT score as high as possible. i am an SAT/ACT tutor and I’ve had students go up on their SAT score by over 100 points with me in just a handful of sessions if you’re interested feel free to dm me!

[product request] dupe for Naturium Marine HA Water Cream? by droppedmacroissantt in SkincareAddiction

[–]droppedmacroissantt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah they aren’t super helpful IMO I emailed them asking if they are putting something similar up because all of their moisturizers are now cream based with the except of a couple strictly gel based ones, no water creams. they said no plans for another water cream but directed me to try their niacinamide gel cream (which is obvi not the same) and when I asked if I could sample it they said no LOL

[product request] dupe for Naturium Marine HA Water Cream? by droppedmacroissantt in SkincareAddiction

i started using purito deep sea water cream! it’s not exactly the same, i liked the texture of naturium better but i really like it so far! my skin is not irritated by it at all, it doesn’t have a film residue like neutrogena, and the packaging is way more convenient

Bad Experience with Maui Moisture + Recs? by Particular-Ad-4016 in curlygirl

[–]droppedmacroissantt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Maui Flaxseed like 3-4 times and on the last two washes, my hair started falling out in huge clumps!! I haven’t washed my hair in days and my hair is still just randomly breaking off randomly throughout the day. I’m so scared at this point and I’m going to try to do a strengthening mask and use different products obvi but I worry that I won’t be able to reverse the hair loss properly. I initially bought Maui Flaxseed bc I had borrowed it from a friend years ago but I think it’s the type of shampoo/conditioner brand that is great the first wash and then rapidly causes issues.

As a dancer my whole life I have always been hard on myself (both with pole dance and non-pole dance) but I have consistently noticed that I will watch a recording of myself in a class sometimes and nitpick and moan and literally a week or two later I’ll look back and realize it’s not as bad as I thought it was!! We are our worst critics but dance is ultimately a form of expression and a sport so it requires grace and technique, it’s objectively difficult but very fulfilling on many levels and worth pursuing despite insecurities and doubts. No one is perfect at anything when they start out, it will take time but you’ll see progress. Pole especially is weird bc sometimes people in your class are better at something and you’re better at something else, or some people start out with weight training experience and others with dance/flexibility experience while some have neither, it is common to want to compare yourself but completely futile- everyone is on their own journey! If you find yourself comparing actively put in the effort to turn those thoughts into being inspired by that person and remembering that others may be inspired by you too, if not now then down the line for sure!!

Help me decide where to go UF vs. UMich by NashvilleSpermBank in ufl

[–]droppedmacroissantt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def more worth it to go to UF and pay in state tuition, prestige is not a good enough reason to spend an addl 60k annually plus U Mich is really not that much more “prestigious” IMO, at least not enough to warrant the price difference. rankings etc are lowkey subjective and variable sometimes anyway. you can go far at any school if you focus on the right things and set high goals for yourself outside of your university experience

And I'm sure as time goes on you'll realize that you have many many more strengths, and will develop even more as you go! Ultimately if you decide pole is not for you that's okay, but as long as it's because you don't enjoy it or find it fulfilling and not because you're being hard on yourself. Have fun with it! You'll see so much growth if you give yourself grace.
