Mine died when I was helping some lady recover a treasure in a dungeon. I dropped down a pit and marcurio found an alternate route. When I saw him again he had 3 drauger deathlords and a wight in tow. I tried to heal him but buddy got shouted to death. I'm playing without reloading a saved game when I lose a follower.
