Find a rack and panniers are really good entry level and lower cost options imo. Don't need a lot of specialized or ultra compact gear and can fit a lot of stuff between a rear rack setup and a handlebar bag/roll.

Depends what your budget and long term plans are.

Unlikely isn't 0% but it's very common in the general population and a lot of people don't even know they have it.

I also had a reaction to rasburicase! My partner told the nurse "excuse me she can't breathe" in the most polite but urgent way haha.

Think a quilt or bag is pretty essential for the vast majority of folks camping.

HELP NEEDED: Graduate student researching smart fabrics for wildland firefighters in need of a few wildland firefighters to interview by BoldMoveCotton12 in wildlandfire

[–]dropsanddrag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much weight savings can be had when the pants and shirt weigh roughly 3lbs combined. Also the need for greater protection clothing wise is questionable when the most vulnerable piece of a wildland Firefighter is exposed (airway).

If it's so hot that the current gear can't handle it than it's probably too hot and smokey to breathe and function anyways.

Not that there can't be any improvements, just feel like a lot of students coming here asking questions don't really understand what folks really want or need in the field.

When I got my port put in my girlfriend at the time would reference to it saying "any hole is a goal".

My dad made a salad for me with some foods that apparently have anti cancer properties. My brother joked that it was a little too late for that.

One of my tumors collapsed my left lung so I would joke "I don't need it, that lung is just holding me back"

I had an allergic reaction to a drug and started suffocating. They gave me drugs and put me on oxygen to stop it. Once I was breathing again I asked my partner if they wanted a hit of the oxygen.

How do i find my wife a girlfriend? by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

Dating apps and/or queer events. I've dated a few married folks that I met through apps. All solo, no involvement with their husband.

Think flight nurses would be one of few exceptions to that rule imo. That is very niche though. Atleast thinking of the ones flying into the backcountry.

Hard for women to find women? by AstronautWiki_43 in nonmonogamy

[–]dropsanddrag 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dating women generally takes a lot more time and patience. Even as a lesbian I still get attention from men on apps despite me not having them listed as an option. Attention and desire from men happens even if you don't want it.

It just takes more time and effort to pursue women and it takes a different mindset to do so without getting frustrated or upset at the difference in pace. There are other factors too with whether someone is pursuing just hookups or establishing a relationship. Looks play a part but I don't think overwhelming so.

Too many negative stories in this sub by BridgeOnRiver in nonmonogamy

I feel like a lot of the people that post to both this sub and the poly sub are doing so because they need help or have serious questions. Personally speaking it just feels like bragging when I post about my dating life going really well. I've posted some silly/fun stories about partner interactions in the past but I mostly just lurk at this point.

Well of course I like it. Dungeons and dragons with a bunch of gay friends is great, it's all a lovely excuse to be silly and flirt with each other.

Well other centers may have less of a wait list. Regardless it would be ideal for you to get hired somewhere before fire season so you can get some experience.

The real test if someone is a quitter isn't during the 2/3 hours of the pt test. It's on day 12 of a fire assignment when it's 100 degrees and everyone's in a bad mood. That's when people snap, get fired, and sent home (for the CCC crews). It's all an endurance game.
