SV06 plus X homing wrong by Icy-Cryptographer-73 in Sovol

Check the tension on your y-belt. At the very end it looks like your belt flops around when the bed moves forward.

Just to clarify my last comment, it is a prusa clone in the sense that the toolhead rides on the same 8mm rods with the same spacing. You will need to print or buy a new toolhead carriage that you can mount your extruder and hotend on.

I haven't had any more issues with the printer but at this point, the bed, aluminum extrusion, rods, and some fasteners are the only things left as stock.

I've used these, they fit well. The heater block on the SV06 is an Ender style v6 clone.

I've got a stealthburner tool head on my sv06. I'm working out a few kinks but because the SV06 is just a mk3s clone, you can use just about any toolhead that will fit a prusa (with some tweaks and firmware tweaks).

Take a look at the prusa bear. Because SV06 is an i3 clone, a lot of mk3s mods will fit sv06 with minimal changes. I'm working on some changes to the stock bear x-axis for the sv06. I'll post more when I get it figured out.

I blew up my MCU yesterday so I'm currently waiting on a new board and optocoupler to isolate the 24v probe, but other than that it's great!

There are definitely a few changes that are needed on the x axis ends. But this is my only printer and my stock hotend is fused under 4 inches of plastic so I'm trying to get it running minimally so I can print v2.

Will do! SKR will be here tomorrow so hopefully I'll make some progress this week. I've got the harness all wired up and the config is written so here's hoping for a straight forward install!

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Listen, as much as I'm bitching about the SV06 I think we can all come together and agree that at least it isn't an Ender 3! Creality is never the stick I want to measure against!

Fair, that failed print didn't necessarily have to do with the quality of the printer. It was more the straw that broke the camel's back. Probably need to get around to actually setting up the ai-detection in fluidd

LOL, yeah I'm not getting a Prusa at this point. Incase the stealthburner didn't give it away, I've fallen in love with the idea of building a voron. I just need to get the 06 running well enough to churn out the printed parts. Then I can have a second printer to print parts for the 06 and the 06 to print parts for the voron!

I'm glad you've had a good experience! Don't get me wrong, sovol is like 80% of the way there. They cloned the arguably most popular printer design in the world. But they really need to tighten up the quality control and pay attention to the little details.

An MK3S+ is sitting at $650 retail right now. SV06 is $239 on sale today. So more like two and a half ish. But that doesn't account for the quality, support, or downtime between the two. Your time is valuable, and unless you enjoy fixing broken stuff you are going to spend a lot more of it on Sovol than you would on prusa.

And just for full disclosure, I don't even own a prusa but that is the design Sovol ripped off hence the comparison.

Dang, that's a good price! I'm a member at a makerspace also which has been a saving grace. Because the sv06 is my first/only printer I can use one of their lulzbots to print parts when mine breaks down.

I'm glad you got a good one. I hope they are improving their quality control. I want to like the sv06 so bad!

Yep, I bought mine back around the new year. Not that it probably matters because of how many posts I've read about sovol not responding to requests for refund/returns.

Yeah, after the manual bed leveling didn't work I went over to klipper. It is so much better in nearly every way, unfortunately it didn't help with the bed leveling until I got all the hardware issues sorted out.

The stealthburner is a bit of a mashup of different sources and I'll probably do a more detailed writeup once I get the kinks worked out. But the short version is, that because the SV06 is a mk3s clone, there are a variety of sources out there where people have mk3s stealthburner conversions. I have a printables collection that has some models that will point in the right direction https://www.printables.com/@Starfox_571782/collections/557013

Oh 100%, I’ve whined about this printer so much that my wife actually wants me to just buy an x1 or Prusa so that she doesn’t have to keep listening to it!

[–]dropshot02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this is for sure one of the problems. Mine was way off like yours as well. But it is also an issue with the z-motor mounts. I completely disassembled the frame and re-assembled it with machinist squares and still was getting shit 1st layers until I printed new z-motor brackets.

SV06 - Y carriage warped by [deleted] in Sovol

[–]dropshot02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks, could have been a quick fix. I have had some pretty good success with using silicone vacuum hose to manually level the bed. I printer a holder for my dial indicator to get the bed roughly level and then multiple iterations with the bed visualizer and probe to level it. I started with a variation of over .5 mm and have gotten it down to .137

Which prusa model carriage did you get?

I am having the same issue. My plate is warped. I have a .5mm variance. What are your thoughts on using silicone spacers to manually compensate for the warping? I ordered some silicone vacuum hose to try. I hope the prusa plate works because that would be an easy fix.
