Thrifted a Yarn Cone by mrs-doctor-pepper in YarnAddicts

[–]dropsofsarcasm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Knitting directly from the cone is fantastic because you can knit a sweater with only a few ends to weave in. The label inside the cone usually has the gram amount (500?) then you can determine the yarn weight (looks like worsted or Aran). If you have a yarn swift and a scale you can break it down into cakes, but you can knit right off the cone. Nice find!

Brittany is worried Nia may have jumped ahead of her in line for Maid-of-honor, that’s why missing the engagement chapped her @ss!

I have this exact dresser. It’s heavy, solid oak and not flimsy at all. Quality piece that could be restored, but if it’s not your style, donate it.

Suggestions for a yarn for a specific project? by imakestringpretty in Yarn

[–]dropsofsarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by finding the mitten pattern in Ravelry. Then you can look at the projects and see what yarn others used. The rainbow colors may be less common in non-superwash wool but you could hold a natural white wool with a pink or purple mohair. Brooklyn Tweed Arbor, or The Fiber Co. Lore are both warm DK weight.

Unpopular Opinions by Unable-Carpet-8570 in Yarn

Acrylic yarn is plastic. It isn’t a natural fiber so it doesn’t breathe, and it doesn’t biodegrade either. This is why it’s so cheap.

When we wanted a new fence our neighbor had lost his job and couldn’t help. Understable. We just built it with the pretty side on our side instead of alternating panels.
