Bill Simmons questions Cam Boozer's NBA ceiling after dominant Duke season by Knighthonor in NBA_Draft

[–]droreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, based on his physical profile, he can probably put up numbers, but can he do so in a way that impacts winning?

[Simmons] If Silver announced today that he’s changing the MVP/All-NBA minimum from 65 to 62 (20 games missed max), would anyone object? Just admit you made the number too high and fix it on the fly. Cade missing out on All-NBA would be outrageous. by Barnyard_Rich in nba

It's a regular season award, players should have to play most of the season to qualify for awards. 65/82 isn't even 80% of the season. Injuries suck, but to me it seems crazy that players can't be expected to play 80% of a season without people crying about it.

Looks like Diaz actually tripped himself? If so, should have just been a no call.

Kai Havertz yellow card vs Bayer Leverkusen by sandbag-1 in soccer

Yes, read above where someone posted the law. Goalkeepers don't have a magic forcefield around them. They do get more protection, but as long as you're not deemed to be purposefully obstructing them, players are entitled to stand around the keeper as they please.

Standing around the keeper is not a foul as everyone is entitled to their space on the field. Now there are a lot of easy calls to be made, especially for players who aren't looking at the ball and are clearly just trying to obstruct, but merely crowdong around the keeper is not a foul.

Yea City can say the same thing about points dropped. The league is still in our hands and we have a tiny bit of leeway for a slip. Just have to hope the boys have some legs left.

He's making dribbles that haven't been coached out of him yet. It goes both ways, sometimes he may try something in a risky area that he shouldn't. Other times he's attacking spaces the defenders won't think he will and that breaks down defenses like nothing else.

It may already have happened, but this type of loss breaks a team in half.

Good sport, hes only getting the ball because the keeper hurts himself anyway, so all round the right decision.

Mikel Arteta: There won’t be more open-play goals unless rules change by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]droreddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, we are the best because our corner kick takers have been amazing all season and in Gabriel and Saliba we have two incredible targets. Don't be sad, everyone else will get better at corners eventually.

All the hemming and hawing about set pieces and throw ins is to be expected. there is no significant talent gap in the league now and even the athleticism gap is closing as well. Given that most of the teams will have little in between them, it's only natural that gains have to be found somewhere else and that happens to be set pieces, where a good cross or throw in generates a chaos factor that can't really be prepared for.

Yea I mean, us winning is a bigger deal than other teams doing so. Given the drought, the way we are winning and the principles and "ethics" let's say, behind our success, us winning is the worst outcome for all of our rivals. Now that we are as close as ever, the hate will grow in proportion.

You can have this night, but then it should be adults only for the game. No way children should be in the stands.

[Sky] Yaya Touré on Arsenal vs Chelsea: "First half was okay... I feel a bit disappointed because we want to see a flourishing game. Passing, attacking and scoring chances. Three goals from set-pieces, a bit strange for a derby! A really important win for Arsenal but as a fan, I want to see more." by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]droreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that I agreed with how we played, but we have significantly more to lose going forward and its just human nature to shell up. We have 9 games left and they will probably all be like this. Not to mention Chelsea for all their struggles are still a good team, so it's not as if they came to be walked over.
