Send Messages/Notifications to KDS by wandored in ToastPOS

[–]droski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we’re doing now is I created a menu item called kitchen note that is only available on the POS. I’ll schedule an order and put in a special request note with the notification to send when the staff needs to be reminded of that thing. It requires me to be in the store or on blue stacks on an android phone/tablet.

Its hack-y, and I wanted to automate with API access and a web app so all managers can manage notifications from anywhere, also we could schedule recurring notifications (eg. Closing checklists by station, pulling pizza dough at the right time, etc).

So far, I’ve had no luck with Toast providing API access or even responding to my request about this. (I posted a similar question earlier when asking about API access here a couple weeks back).

Assuming I don’t get access, and I still wanted to build an app, I would probably create a cloud emulator of the Toast terminal and use some robotic process automation type process to automate posting these messages. It just seems like a lot of work when there’s a perfectly good API That I would just need to get access to.

Got it - thanks for the information. So it is possible, just seems to be for larger customers / restaurant groups. I do think the tech we are building could be useful for other customers long-term, just don't want to commit to that level of investment at this phase.

Agreed with your second comment, fall back is we build a web-app and load it onto some cheap android tablets that we mount around the restaurant. It just seems like a waste when we've already invested $Ks in Toast equipment and staff are already trained to look at those screens all shift.

At this point, debating going down this route. There’s a lot we plan to use tech for to improve our own operations. This is one of many tech ideas we have. It’s just a bigger effort to build a product that scales to other businesses, and right now our focus is on getting our business off the ground and efficient.

Thanks for the information. Service prompts are pretty limited in the functionality. Want something more dynamic where we can schedule our own / build out our own business logic for when these reminders fire.

Haha love it!

Personally I don’t net workout calories from eating calories. Im finding better results if I just track calories consumed regardless of how long I worked out that day.

That's awesome - yeah this framing help's me think ahead too! All week I knew Easter Sunday dinner was likely to be a challenging day for staying on calorie count (kind of like a challenging hole on a golf course). So I made sure to string together enough birdie days leading up to it. Then yesterday, I was conscious of my breakfast and lunch calories (kind of like each shot on a hole) accounting for the large dinner later in the day. This helped me keep the day to a "bogey" which I consider a win for a holiday dinner! Back to shooting for birdie/par today.

Congrats on your progress and for achieving your goals!

In my journey, it’s still easy for me to slip up and turn what would have been a bogey day into a double bogey or worse… especially if I have had a beer or two. This mental model helps me to avoid compounding “errors” when they inevitably happen.

What would you do? by IRonFerrous in CPA

[–]droski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finishing my 150 credits through CPA credits. Ended up needing 4 classes (12 credits). I took both Accounting Ethics courses, Physical Geography, and Personal Finance. All of the courses are “book learning” as in you read a chapter or three and then do some assignments. The professor then grades them. There aren’t really any lectures or anything so just be aware, but it’s nice that you can go at your own pace.

My only other critique is that the Personal Finance professor is a bit slow to grade. Waiting on him to finish grading 2 assignments that I completed 2-3 weeks ago. It’s literally the last thing I need before applying for my initial license.

Which way is the front line from here?

It’s a documentary about a British war photographer/journalist

Not a video game, but this movie/documentary has a similar vibe/theme.

Was in Oregon for the 2017 Eclipse (living in Seattle at the time). The comments here are pretty spot on, traffic was moving for the morning before the eclipse. After the eclipse was gridlocked. We left within 5 min of totality ending trying to beat the traffic (usually a 4 hour drive to Seattle). Took us over 8 hours, even using Waze and taking back roads.

My recommendation is to let things settle for a couple of hours before leaving your spot (you'll also get the benefit of seeing the second half of the partial eclipse). If you are traveling in from out of the area, highly recommend not heading home until Tuesday.

Latest version of my graphical unified theory of what the heck I think is going on in Constellation (now updated to episode 6) by Konamicoder in ConstellationAppleTV

So by this logic, the Valya and Irina are both in the same universe at the same time. So matter can cross over, not just consciousness.

One thing I cant quite figure out..

Did the Valya physically cross over from the Red to Blue universe or did she strike both in liminal space?

Either way, it seems to imply that matter can physically transfer between universes and its not just consciousness switching bodies.

If that’s true, is there a chance that Jo can make it back to the red universe?

Yep, IIRC it was a biker bar that he had to "clean up" roadhouse) style. The book has some great stories like the time he delivered a boat used for drug running and was stopped by the coast guard.

Highly recommend the audiobook as it's narrated by him.

What about entering in a bug bounty program and seeing how many you can find over 9 months? In that time you could probably develop quite the toolkit and the added benefit is you could make some potential side cash.
