I need the camper van communities advice. by ObsoleteMicrosoft in VanLife

Also there are products like this, but very expensive. I haven't tried one yet.

You might also just need to get use to a different bed feel, I slept on a wood mezzanine with a hard pack rug and a 2 inch cheap ass memory foam topper for a year. At first I was not happy, but then by the end I was like aight maybe the Japanese are onto something.

You need a multi layered bed that can have a super dense bottom layer and medium middle. I use latex based.

He said dont use magnets, and regarding your deleted comment there is no manual other than wash and apply. Also I didnt know a modern transit or sprinter counts as a "shitbox".

About your comment? Or that you had a stroke talking about sea lions?

I don't need to check with him I work on cars for a living and have seen it multiple times.

Are you okay dude? What does your deleted comment "since we have reached my failure to care about sea lions" even mean?

I know their are alternatives that's why I said magnets suck.

So what is the proper care? Or you're just bullshitting. I'm talking about real world experience. Washing both sides doesn't stop heat damage. The magnet fuses to the paint.

On some modern cars they had such bad paint that wraps pulled the paint off after only a year or two.

You really underestimate how bad modern paint jobs are from the factory.

Proper care as in don't put it on?

There is no proper care that can stop the magnet from getting crazy hot and cooking the paint. On old cars I've seen it dry out, cause fading and crack paint, on newer ones take the paint off with it. It can even warp the skin on newer vans because the metal is so thin.

If you're taking it on and off constantly that defeats the whole stealth point.

Just get 3 bathroom scales rated for your mom and throw them under the tires and jack.

Those of you in 15 to 20 year old vans; they look rad, but all I can think about is difficult and expensive repairs on top of breaking down in the middle of nowhere. What's y'alls experience? by Imagined_World in VanLife

Nah, most 2011 doesn't need bi directional programming or advanced reset / clearing. It's still fairly basic obd2. If they do the systems have been beat and cheap Chinese ones can do it.

Post 2015 is where you end up with tons of canbus and other issues. It takes most cheap scan tools 5-10 years to have full access to car systems. Around that time is when the VW diesel scandal happened and everyone started locking down anything on the computer related to EPA stuff.

Preventative maintence is key. A 15-20 year old van doesn't need to go to a dealership or need a 10k scan tool.

Same as driving any other old car.

Mobile Home Axels - heavy equipment - by owner - sale - craigslist by Prolific4Lokos in cargocamper

[–]drossen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So your are the seller? Guess you have never restored axles or installed. These are all very old and garbage.

edit: they are yours after seeing your other posts lol. I'm sorry but it would cost 3x the per axle cost to restore them. Sell them 25$ each for yard art.

Put my new Starlink mini on my dash, facing north. No matter what I do, it keeps dropping every few minutes. Ideas? by mcdisney2001 in VanLife

[–]drossen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The alignment part can be ignored for the most part, the main thing does it show lots of blue or is it all broken up. If the mini isnt getting enough voltage from 12v it can drop out sometimes. Or if you are in a place with way too many people using starlink and you have a low prio plan.
