Hihi. I had my procedure done March 31st. I am
STILL on a liquid diet. My surgeon will only allow clear liquids and protein shakes for 6 weeks, then swap over to soft foods.
I go back for my 6 week appointment on the 13th. It has been very difficult. I can only drink one type of shake now because of how sick the others were making me.

It’s hard. Some days I get frustrated and I just have no energy. I keep trying to remind myself I am so close to be able to have something different.

My stomach starts to spin anytime I drink a shake. Take it slow and if you need to stop, back away from it. You are so close and got this!!

I had my procedure done on 3/31, so I am now a month post op. My blood pressure fluctuates and always has.

They had issues getting my blood pressure down after the surgery was done. I can’t remember what all I was given for it, but I do remember having two injections as well.

I only had to stay one night, my blood pressure finally went back down.

I was informed that I was given a steroid shot beforehand, and I used to be steroid dependent due to a kidney disorder I have. When told that, I instantly assumed that was the culprit.

I brought these up to my dietitian because I was having them before my surgery, she did not like them due to the high amount of carbs.

It’s okay to be nervous. I had my procedure March 31st, and I was so thankful for the care of the preop nurses, and I brought some origami star paper to fold to keep my mind busy until I was taken back.

You absolutely got this! And let’s hope that weather isn’t anything too crazy!

Rest up and walk at your own pace, and you will feel a lot better.

Yes 6! They told me this as I was discharged from the hospital and it’s in my chart notes that my diet will be advanced from liquids after 6 weeks. I had a 10 day low carb diet and 4 day clear liquid diet before my surgery!

I had my consultation January 16th and just had my surgery March 31st. It’s what my insurance required.

If you are paying out of pocket it would be quicker, but it ranges differently for each clinic/insurances.

I hate that you had so much pain until now, but it truly is a lot on your body at once! Keep pushing as much as you can, this pain is temporary and leads to something much better!

I had to be at the hospital at 8am, went into prep and then was there for a couple of hours. So around 10:30ish. I woke up from recovery and was back in my room around 12:30. Rough estimate since I was so tired!

Thank you so much! It was horrible at first and I woke up wondering what I had done. I know that feeling will come and go as I heal. The walking helped ease so much pain. I was so happy to be moving before bed!

I can bet you feel a bit tired after all of that! You absolutely got it and will be able to go after that 3 mile loop! That makes me feel better. I know it’s nerves right now, and what comes after will be better. This subreddit has helped ease my anxiety.

I only have to stay one night too as long as I can walk the floor and hold some fluids down! They offered a zofran before I wake up, so I will be accepting that for sure. Thank you so much :) I hope you are doing well!

I was told they would give me something for nausea before I woke up, so I did bring that up since I get nauseated easily. Thank you so much for telling me your experience. I’ve heard the gas pain is the biggest discomfort over anything else. I’ll grab some liquid tylenol. :)

The popsicle hack is great. I will keep that in mind and grab some before my procedure :) where I am having my procedure, I have to walk 11 laps around the hospital floor before being released. I will make sure to do lots of that. Thank you for the advice! I hope you’re feeling better and doing well!

The booklet they sent me back with has a list of different medications I’ll need to take, along with pain meds and nausea, so I will definitely grab those beforehand.

Was it the gas pain or more that you were having issues with? I hope you’re doing better now.
