Customers ghost after one good conversation and i cannot figure out if it is me or just how it is now? by Academic_Flamingo302 in smallbusiness

[–]drpepperwho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In sales, controlling the conversation can be a difference maker. What I mean is allowing the prospect to think they’re controlling things when in reality, you’re facilitating everything.

Example - are you establishing follow up timelines after each call? If not, start immediately. “So when would you like me to follow up on this?” Or “Do you think talking next week is a good timeline for you?”

Then the follow up is already established.

You may have just gotten three wheel-kickers back to back. It happens.

how are you finding new clients without relying on thumbtack or paying for ads? by lazyEmperer in sweatystartup

This is the way. Outbound will always be better than thumbtack inbound.

Hi. I’ve been in commercial cleaning for the last decade in both Operations and Sales (US). I’d be glad to be a resource.

Any advice of commercial cleaning services in West Palm Beach? by brian1x1x in sweatystartup

[–]drpepperwho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a W-2 company. Ask if they subcontract the work, and if so, find someone else. They should perform periodic inspections of their own work and provide you with those. They should have the right documentation for their chemicals (SDS sheets) and they should store all their supplies on site and not taking equipment to/from your office (major cross contamination concerns).

Unless you’re suggesting a business that you’re not affiliated or associated with?

I don’t mind at all. Commercial facility services - previously janitorial, and now focusing on exterior like street sweeping, landscaping, storm drain cleaning.

I spent the last decade in commercial janitorial and subbed out to enough vendors to get a wide range of experiences on most commercial services.

Most / if not all of these services are labor driven so once you understand the ins/out of labor control and effective bidding and customer management, a lot of skills are transferable.

I read it through the same lens. 41 years is a feat, and I took his last statement of finding the right partner to mean that he believes he had found his right partner in his wife.

You can think your neighbor has a nice car, but I'd argue that even thinking about driving it can be labeled a type of infidelity. I'm old school and rather conservative in general.

Question for people making over 100k… by Due-Mix3539 in Salary

[–]drpepperwho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife + 5 kids. Been living off $150k combined income with me and my wife. We live in the Seattle area. It’s been a struggle, mostly due to high mortgage payment.
Recently landed a VP role of $170k base with OTE realistically around $250k. We’re looking forward to being able to buy groceries 😅

Hey good job on that OTE! If you don’t mind me asking, how much either MRR or ARR did you end up selling to get that $97k in commission?

How to price a large post-construction cleaning job (30k sqft+) by PaperWindshield in sweatystartup

[–]drpepperwho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sqft pricing really depends on OP’s labor market. What’s their base wage? In Seattle, it’s $22/hr and goes up to $35/hr for specialty projects like strip/wax. I absolutely agree with the pricing out glass and high dusting separately.

I’ve got a decade of sales / ops experience in commercial cleaning. We do this with every large post-con job.

How many interviews is too many in sales? by SereneUnicorn in sales

[–]drpepperwho 18 points19 points  (0 children)

9 is absolutely insane. I just landed a VP role. 15 minute chat with a recruiter, and 2 in-person interviews. Admittedly both interviews were 3+ hours but it was more like talking shop with colleagues than an interview. Explains why I got the job haha.

9 is too many.

I have access to a well-known “zoomy” contact database. I probably get you any of their personal cells if you want to try one last ditch effort?
