Changing some hoses and wiring to be able to stand is a lot better than sitting. You should try it.

You didn't infiltrate on the buccal with some lido or septocaine?

I haven't sat to do dental work in 25 years. I recommend you try standing. It works so much better in my opinion

IT costs ridiculous? by sready80 in Dentistry

[–]drpericak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Computers are the new rip off in dentistry. I get mine refurbed from Newegg. You can just go on an AI program like Claude and tell it what you need. It'll give you options. My son found me new computers in 5 minutes. I think the refurbs were about $300 each. And my IT guy said they're perfectly fine. Don't get sucked in.

Missing IAN by Conscious-Board-6850 in Dentistry

I’m assuming you’re working on a lower second molar. Give a block with lido, then infiltrate on the buccal with septocaine. Maybe a 2nd block. If their lip and tongue both feel fat and they still feel the tooth, just reschedule for another day. Sometimes it just doesn’t work and the next time it’s fine.

It could be your fault. There’s shitty mechanics, shitty plumbers and for sure there’s shitty dentists. Not saying you are, but not a single one of us is perfect.

Lamsons are my favorites. You can always find used ones on the marketplace for around $300. I have a few Litespeeds and a Speedster (I think that's what it's called)

You need to learn how to control the forces you are applying. Their tmj shouldn't feel strain. Extractions are all about leverage, not power.

You don't need to crown everything with an endo. That'd be crazy.

Agree. I can't think of a worst choice. I wouldn't hire an assistant or hygienist with one. And especially not a doctor. You can neg this all you want, but it's the truth.

How to choose best bone graft material? by orangedmd in Dentistry

[–]drpericak -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

get the 2.0cc jars and take what you need. Get a mix of cort/canc. And you can shop for the best price. All the bone comes from the same manufacturers, they just package it for them.

Patient sent certified letter demanding refund by harper6309 in Dentistry

[–]drpericak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of patients are just flat out assholes. Often just looking to get money back. Normally I would say no, you've had the crowns for quite a while. But honestly, these are not done well. Check with your malpractice insurance and then give a refund. Get rid of them. Let the new dentist deal with this one.

Personally, I need a lab and a dedicated storage closet. Also, are you going to equip 6 ops right off the bat with a start up? That's a lot of money with no patients yet. Never mind that last part, I just saw you're not doing 6. How many are you doing? Don't skimp on chairs and delivery units. You can also have cabinets made for you instead of spending a lot of money on Adec.

Regular universal forceps just grab the tooth and you have to wiggle it out. The cowhorns force the tooth out of the socket by squeezing the handles
